Spell checking in Web Desk - Does not function in IE 9

I have done some testing and have determined that the spell check feature in WebDesk works with IE 10 and 11, Chrome (latest version) and Firefox (latest version).  However, due to some custom web apps, we are currently stuck with IE 9, and the WebDesk spell check does not work with this version.  Does anyone know if a patch could be added to IE 9 to allow the spell check to work? Thanks.
