truncate query results in webdesk

Hi,

I'd like to truncate query results in webdesk (to show only 150 characters from note text on notes list), so I set truncate to 150 characters in query designer.

It works in console, but fails in web desk. I found this threat http://community.landesk.com/support/message/24023#24023  so it looks bad, but maybe four years later someone found workaround to get query results truncated in web desk?
