Deleting Managed Devices Automatically?

Hello!  I was wondering if someone could help answer this question.  I read a couple community articles on this already but I guess I misunderstood them because things did not end up working the way I thought they would.  I am wondering if there is an easy way to actually remove/delete a managed device from the console/network view automatically after there has been a set period of time without communication between the core and the managed device?  I read a couple articles that said this is possible by following these steps:

Go into the CONFIGURE menu ---------> SERVICES--------->INVENTORY.......and then change the option "Days to Keep Inventory Scans".

The articles I read led me to believe that after the set period of days here, the inventory records would be deleted from the database AND the managed device would be removed from the console/network view.  This has not been the case.  In my set up I set the number of days to keep inventory scans to 2.  After 3, 4, 5 days of no communication with the LANDesk core server, the managed device still sits in the console/network view.  I made sure there was no communication between the core server and managed device by disconnecting the network cable AND I checked the "Last scanned date" in the network view.

Does anyone know how this is supposed to work?  Is my system not working properly?  Do the managed devices have to be MANUALLY deleted from the console/network view?  This could be a difficult administrative task if you are responsible for a large number of devices on your network and cannot set the managed devices to be removed automatically, if you want them to be.

Thank you!
