Morning all,
Was having a look around our Service Desk installation and noticed that our Data Import is well out. In short, when it was initially configured it looks like there was an import setup to take the Laptops and Workstations from LDMS and import them into LDSD to allow us to log calls against assets and build up data on faulty assets.
When this was done 2 CI types where configured - Workstation and Laptop
Unfortunately there was not separating in the Data import and as such we have all our assets from LDMS (servers, laptops, tablets, PC's etc) duplicated within both CI types.
I want to delete this. The data is useless to us.
My questions are -
What impact will this have going forward?
What is the best way to do it?
Once I have cleansed the data I am going to set up the import properly and import all the assets as their own CI's. I will also import all the network equipment that isn't currently in LDMS to build a better picture of our CMDB.
We can then look at Impact Analysis, tips on that would also be greatly appreciated.
