Licence & Webdesk Info Required for Upgrading to 7.5

Hi,

 

My organisation is currently in the process of upgrading to 7.5.1 from 7.3.2.

 

I have a few questions I would like to get my head around with regards to the licence change and the push to use Webdesk over console.

 

Currently we have a number of analyst licences and I am only able to have that number of analysts added onto the system.  With the new licence flexibility how does this work?  I understand that on every analyst you have the option of using an actual licence (seat based) to ensure that they are able to log on.

 

Does this mean that you can have any number of analyst records but that when it comes to logging on you will only be able to have the number that you are licenced for on at any one time ?

 

How does the conversion process work from the current licences to the new style licences ?, do we have the same number of licences with the new system that we have now ? Also, are the number of seat based licences set in stone or can concurrent licences be converted/used as required ?

 

 

Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to why WebDesk is preferable to Console from a useability point of view, I understand that there is less maintenance required as PC's do not need their console installation updating with every change, however as an organisation who has always used console for every analyst I would like a bit more information on the benefits and reasons for moving people over to using the webdesk system.

 

Sorry if these are silly questions, I'm just trying to understand things a bit more.
