Not sure what 'service mix is disabled' means or how to resolve.

I have setup a core alert rulset for Unmanaged Device Discovery to email our service desk when machines are discovered. The rule has been edited, saved and published.
Database has been configured as in the instructions in "BKM Monitoring, Alerting and IPMI.pdf" document (change 0 to 1)
Our LANDesk Core Server has been configured to send emails.
Log information has:
Alert.log:
012-12-13 17:28:06(4416-9356) alert.exe:Processing core server alert internal.ldms.UDD.UnmanagedDeviceFound instance
AlertService.log:
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 14:09:21 1428: Processing file D:\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\alertqueue\4b01.53c5c8b5569ddc1.alert.xml
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 14:09:21 Alert {internal.ldms.SPM.DefinitionInAlertGroupDetected, } from {5B1F9AFE-72D1-7E45-A5C9-97EA98A3AB27} state 3
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 14:09:21 Host: VBLT-XXX.xxx.xxx.xx.xx, IP Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
These lines don't appear everytime I run the Unmanaged Device Discovery.

I'm guessing LANDesk is trying to send the messages as it is "processing" but we never see the "transmitting alert"' message in the log nor do we receive emails.
I found searching the Community something about Apache Service Mix needed to be installed for 8.7 but this is not installed on our LANDesk server. Could this be the problem?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
