When Service Desk was installed we think that it was accidentally set up with the British settings. The biggest issue is that our users see the "wrong" date formatting. While console users see dates as mm/dd/yyyy, web users see dd/mm/yyyy despite the regional settings on the browser and computer being set to US English, and the web server having US English set as its language. Is there any way for us to change the regional settings, or if that is not an option to at least change the date formatting online. We are currently using version 7.7.3 but if it helps you, we are planning to update our installation to 8.2 in the relatively near future. Thanks for any help.

Unattend getting truncated after generalize pass
I have been fighting with this intermittent issue and spending way too much time on it. It is maddening since it will fail 3 times in a row and then succeed without any modifications whatsoever on the same hardware.
What is happening is that after the generalize pass of the sysprep run, it will install device drivers and then move onto applying system settings where it fail to parse the unattend.xml at C:\Windows\Panther saying the answer file is invalid. Looking at the unattend file, it will be truncated at the line stated in the error message.
I have tried injecting the unattend into the root of the drive, into C:\Windows\Panther with the same result. I have put waits in the provisioning template after the inject to ensure that it is being written completely. Looking at the unattend file before the generalize pass shows that the file is intact. Looking through the sysprep logs yeilds no clue as to what is happening.
I generated the unattend file with Windows Systems Image Manager and is attached below. I am on LD 9.5 SP2 trying to provision Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64.
Anybody know what is happening to the unattend and any suggestions on making this more reliable?
LDMS 9.6 SP2 install failure
I'm updating LDMS 9.6 SP1 to SP2 on a Windows 2012 server and I receive the following error:
Incorrect function.
Bridgeit.inf: (0x00000001) Install Only Files\LANDesk.Common.RunMethod.exe assemblyFile%SPEQUAL_SIGN%"LANDesk.Install.Common.Actions.dll" Class%SPEQUAL_SIGN%"BridgeIT" Method%SPEQUAL_SIGN%"UpgradeInstances" commandLine%SPEQUAL_SIGN%"UpgradeCommand",60000
In my LANDesk.install.update_Date/time log, I receive , "ERROR: Execution of Update5 completed. Return code: 2, State: Failure".
Has anyone been able to resolve this?
Are there any pre-built TelnetCE scripts for GS1 barcode parsing?
Does Wavelink have any scripting libraries that include GS1 barcode handing? I have a scenario where I have to parse information out of a GS1 barcode scan into multiple fields or persistent variables based on the Application Identifiers within the barcode. I've developed the pseucode for accomplishing this and am about to port it into TelnetCE scripting. I just wanted to make sure this didn't already exist before I spend my time building it from scratch. I have to imagine other Wavelink customers have ran into this situation before as it's a standard symbology for the pharmaceutical industry.
New to landesk
I am new to landesk server installation in an environment. I just completed the installation of the core server management suite on a 2012 server and Core SP2. What are the next steps? I need to populate the management suite with the devices in my network. How do I do that ? Thanks
Effective Rights: ability to view Scopes
Our Information Security Team is requesting we grant them the ability to view Scopes. Can anyone point me to the correct effective right that allow this access?
Also, if anyone knows of any past documentation that breaks down the effective rights, I'd love to see it. My keyword searches on the community and the web have come up short.
Query filter criteria not updating results
Within Request Management we have created an action to Link or Unlink configuration items to a user. The action displays the list of CI's with filter criteria which enables the Analyst to quickly drill down to the specific item they are linking to the user. The issue we have encounterd is when the IT Analyst attempts to filter on any of the fields the result set is not updated.
I took a look at the queries associated with the Link / Unlink Incidents, Requests, etc actions and don't see anything that's different. Any ideas?
We are on version 7.7.3
See screenshot below:
Unable to find "CI Consolidation"
Morning,
I am trying to start the CI Consolidation componant, as per Page 8 of the ConsolidateAndView.pdf, and I can't find it anywhere.
I have tried adding a componant, but it doesn't appear in the list. Screenshot attached.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thanks

9.6 console unbearably slow
since updating to LDMS 9.6 & still after applying SP1, my consoles are very slow. Often when switching between queries, clicking on pc's, selecting tasks, distro packages, or any other screen change, the console freezes, most times for at least 30-45 seconds & becomes non-responsive.
Has anyone else seen this? My team is becoming more & more aggravated trying to work via the console (as am I) and wasting a lot of time through the day waiting for things to refresh.
I have my settings to only update agent status on selection, am running on a quad core pc Win 7 64 bit with 8 GB of RAM - I actually set up a separate pc & am running ONLY landesk on that pc & nothing else, & still experiencing this.
Nothing has changed on the sql side since we were at 9.5, so I can only believe this is a 9.6 specific issue.
W3Wp seems to be running a bit high on the core server, but has reduced somewhat since updating to SP1
THere are 3 w3wp processes running - a couple at 100 -200 MB & one at around 600-700 MB of ram usage at any given time (down from 850-1000 prior to sp1)

Intermittent SQL Exception errors.
On a very intermittent basis we are seeing SQL Exception errors in the Application logs on our Service Desk Servers.
We have two web servers and an application server and all three seem to get the errors simultaneously when it occurs and prevents all users regardless of which server or application they are hitting (console, Web Desk, Etc) from accessing the system for up to two minutes.
Its worthwhile to note that the error specifically mentions Named Pipes as the provider, but my connection strings to SQL in ConfigurationCenter are set to use TCP/IP.
Ex: server=tcp:MWATL1P438\Corporate,50152;database=landesk_sd;uid=<user>;pwd=<password>
Examples of the errors are below:
Ex 1:
Failed To Logon: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)
Ex 2:
Failed To Logon: Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed while attempting to consume the pre-login handshake acknowledgement. This could be because the pre-login handshake failed or the server was unable to respond back in time. This failure occured while attempting to connect to the Principle server. The duration spent while attempting to connect to this server was - [Pre-Login] initialization=620; handshake=12875;
Ex 3:
SqlException
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)

Devices won't report correct model or serial number.
This week I replaced a computer lab, after installing the agent some have CBX3__ as the model and no serial number reported. I ran an inventory scan after but it still looks the same. attached a screen shot of the problem computers.
Any suggestions on what to try next?
Trying to make LS3408 (with newer firmware) work with Zebra VC70N0 using USB cable. All the pieces are right, but the results aren't. Zebra docs not helping. Need secret sauce.
No idea as to what to set "Default Scanner" parameter to to avoid scanner select popup at startup. Using a .reg file to disable DataWedge on startup. Scanner "works" but each scan results in 2 tone alarm for every character in barcode.

Package Builder - Copy Command
I'm working on creating a package to install StartUpCtrl on our devices as one of our facilities uses DataWedge. Since DataWedge gets wiped out on a cold boot, they recommend using StartupCtrl to make it persistent. I'm able to get StartUpCtrl to install fine, but the COPY portion of my package does not seem to be working. I'm sure it's because I have a syntax issue, but I'm not able to figure out what it is. Package Builder does not give me any errors when I validate the script. I am running a mix of 9190's and 9090's both running Windows CE 6 and 5, respectively.

LANDesk Server desk 7.8 web login failed
I have an user who is part of admin role and analyst role in LANDesk Server desk and is able to log into Service desk console successfully, but user receives "Logon failed" use the same credential via the web console.
Some Scan Dates Don't Update
So, I did some research first and found a few threads about this issue and I've gone through some steps recommended in them, but still can't find an answer.
We are running 9.6 SP1 in our environment.
There are several devices that are not updating the Last Hardware Scan, Last Software Scan and Last Policy Sync Dates.
Other dates, such as Definition Scan, Security Check, Vulnerability Scan are current, and therefore, Last Updated by Inventory Server is as well, as expected.
If an Inventory Scan is launched manually from the device (All Programs - LANDesk Management - Inventory Scan), it works properly and the device record is updated in the console.
However, if a scan is executed on the device from the console (Right Click - Inventory Scan - Full Sync Scan), it finishes in ~30 seconds and the non-current dates mentioned above still do not update.
I've also tried to deploy the "inventoryscanner" script in Manage Scripts, however, that fails with the error "The system cannot find the file specified".
The "Restore Client Records" script completes Successfully, but the dates remain unchanged.
I've checked the ErrorScan folder in LDSCAN (along with the other Error folders) and the scan is not getting dumped there.
There is also no Inventory Server errors in Event Viewer.
The agent has been removed completely (using UninstallWinClient.EXE) and reinstalled via self contained EXE.
After the uninstall/reinstall, it is up to date in the console, but eventually the problem scans fall behind.
Anything else I can try?
Any input/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You!
remote control on LANDesk 9.6
So we successfully completed the standup of a new LANDesk 9.6 server using Server 2012 and we were able to use the console to talk to the 9.0 agents that still existed and then push out the new 9.60.3.64 client. The question or challenge that i have now is why some of those computers are not registering the binoculars or mouse symbols when viewing them in console. I can remote into them via HTML5, I can see that they have the most updated client and the correct user and I know the machine(s) are online so they why no binoculars or mouse so that we can use console based remote control?
I'm hoping to troubleshoot but also understand how exactly that process works.
Thanks in advance.
How to scan for a specific file?
Is it possible to configure the scanner to scan c:\users\ and all folders in that directory for a certain subset of folders and files? specifically I want to know if there is a file with a certain extension in the roaming folder of each user listed. Thanks.
Landesk 9.6 SP2 Multicast Domain Representatives Question
I understand in 9.6 I understand Multicast Domain Representatives are no longer used.
My understanding of their use was A. WOL would be sent to computers from there. B. Patches would be sent there then to computers and the same for software.
So how do these things above function now?
