I am unable to open a new case, I have tried in both IE and Chrome. Both are giving me an error and requiring that I enter something in the Product and Version fields. However, the drop downs do not do anything and it will not take any information I enter

Agent Configuration settings to detect when to use IP Address vs. FQDN?

So I'm having a bit of an issue with my agent configurations here; i have a variety of machines I manage, some of which are on and off network randomly, but frequently. The network that these machines are on does NOT have a DNS, so in order to communicate with the core directly, it needs to point to the IP address. However, the CSA has an issue resolving to the core server when given the IP address instead of the FQDN. Therefore, i can either have these machines work when they are ON the network, OR off the network, and seemingly not both. Any Ideas?

PXE boot best practices

I'm wondering if there is any good documentation or other advice that can help us optimize our PXE booting.  In the past we've always used DHCP scope options 60, 66, 67, and 43 to point our clients to the PXE server.  If the PXE representative is also the DHCP server then only option 60 is needed, but if we want PXE to point to a PXE rep that is not the DHCP server we have used options 66, 67, and 43 to point it to the correct server and boot file.  This solution works great if we just stick to 32 bit PXE booting, but doesn't allow any flexibility if we want to use both 64 and 32 bit booting.

 

I am aware that we can accomplish our goal by using the self-elected subnet service on clients in the same subnet, but this has proven unreliable for us.  We much prefer to use servers as our PXE representatives, which reside on a different subnet than the clients.  Are there any best practices out there to make PXE booting across subnets happen without the use of DHCP scope options?  We've tried putting the IP address of the PXE rep in the IP helper table, but it doesn't help.  We are running version 2017.3.

Displaying multiple projects to an user.

Hello Community,

 

I want to show our customers multiple projects when they log a new ticket in LANDesk. Below is what we have configured in our system currently, knidly suggest what more needs to be added.

1) We have 'Project' object in Incident Management(a reference list)

2) We have created a relationship between 'Project' object and 'User' object under System.

3) We have added this project field as a reference list on 'User Window' i.e while creating/adding any new user we add him to a project through this option.

4) Now we have a relationship between 'Project' and 'Incident' object.

5)  We have added this 'Project' field on Incident ticket creation window and added a filter such that user will only see only one value in the dropdown i.e value of the project name that we have selected while adding the user.

 

From above, you all may have understood that we can select only 1 value for a project from this.

What we to achieve is that customer is to be added in multiple project and then while creating the ticket he'll be able to see only those values in 'Project' dropdown.

 

Kindly suggest, as this request was raised by customer itself.

I'm trying to create a trigger rule that triggers if two field have changed not just one

I'm trying to create one trigger rule on the Change object if either the Scheduled Start Date or Scheduled End date change but I'm not sure if and/or how that can be done.

 

What I'm trying to accomplish is when the Scheduled Start Date or Scheduled End Date fall within a certain date range, I want a notification to be sent out.  However, right now I can only see that the rule can be set for one field so I would have to build two rules and they would automatically send out two notifications if both fields were changed during creation or update of the Change.

Adding Column to Activity History Tab Showing Users Display Name

Hi All,

 

Under the Activity History tab there is a "Created By" column that shows the loginID of the particular user who makes an update.  I am trying to add a column that would show the users display name as well, which would make it a bit easier for our technicians to identify who makes what updates.  I've checked the SQL table for the activity history (journal) business object and was not able to find a field that captured this information.  Is anyone aware of a process to configure this as painlessly as possible?  Thanks in advance

Blank page in reports

I am generating custom reports within HEAT using .rdl  When I preview my forms, they look correctly, however when I email the same reports in a PDF format, it adds a blank page to the report.  Has anyone else encountered this and if so how can I remove this blank page?

Is this possible with scripting to replace a specific character from a specific place in the scaned code.

If i scan 10001231232A can i replace this number only with number 5?. > 10001231235A.

Submitting a service request on behalf of someone else

It seems straight forward to create an incident on behalf of a customer, but is it possible/how can that be done for a request offering?

We often have customers call the phone, circumventing our self-service portal and want to be able to get a request created on their behalf.

Setting alerts for software changes

I wish to create an email alert for any changes in Add/Remove Programs--whether a program is installed or removed. I read a previous thread on this topic (Recieve alerts when new programs are installed? ) and also consulted the materials on this topic (Monitoring and Alerting ). I have done the following so far:

 

  • Modified the Inventory Change Settings to log events and create an alert regarding the name of any program added or removed under Add or Remove Programs
  • Created a ruleset specifying any alerts for Add or Remove Programs be emailed to me
  • Deployed the new ruleset to my computer

 

However, I tested a few times by installing programs that do create entries under Add or Remove Programs, but no alert arrived. Nothing is listed in the Alert log of LDMS. There is no sendmail log file in the root of the LDMS installation directory. I am at a loss as to what I am missing. The training video (DOC-5674) did not shed any light on the problem.

 

We are using LDMS 9.50. My computer is running Windows 10 x64 Version 1703.

WMI Queries Manages Software List

Trying to list all shares on our machines -

 

I have created the WMI Item under managed software list and its gathering the share name and path from Win32_Share

 

however its only populating the following share

 

Name - $ADMIN

 

Path c:\WIndows

 

So its def collecting the data and shows in my inventory but only the first share is being added its not collecting any other share info?

 

i think its something to do with the Key checkbox - we have data analytics too so any info an doing it with that as an alternative is welcome.

Upgrading Management Server from 8.7 to 8.7 SP1

Hi,

after installation, when I start "Appsense Management Server" I have a popup qith the message "Data is missing from the active database 'ManagementServer'. Do you want to perform the update now?"
I click on yes and when it's finished, I still have 2 variance on database:

\DataInitialised - The chosen database is not completely initialized. Some standard data elements are absent.
\DataUpgradeRequired - The data in the database requires upgrading

Even If I click on "Repair All" and after everything is Green, If I refresh the status, the same error appears again.

I've tried to export the script and play it on SQL server side and it ends with errors:

I've checked; I have dbowner rights on database when I executed the script.

I can only notice something strange in the comments of the script (at the begining):

It upgrades from 8.7.1 to 8.7.1 ?????

Application Control for Developers

Curious how everyone manages developers access with Application Management?

 

 

For my environment, we have restricted everyone from the local administrator access and individually grant elevates access per apps/task/service.  This method help secure our environment but produces more support toward developers access and their requirements.

 

 

Does anyone in your environment grant developers local admin access but then restrict what they cannot elevate?  Or what other ways options do you employ?

Does anybody use this definition types? What is your experience with them? By contrast of others patches, it looks for me that there is no replacement logics included so old sp..... are not replaced.
