Incident management - building and incident request flow

Hi Guys I'm new here to IVANTI SM but have relatively good skills on ITSM solutions

 

I just need someone to walk me through the SM for Incident Management creation and i believe i can take it on from there

 

I will tell you how i do it with other solution and maybe you can point it out for me the way it works on SM

 

So basically this is how i understand,

 

1. There are 3 fields called Category,Sub Category and item, what i do with this field is Category becomes Network department, Sub category become cisco router issues, item become unable to setup the VPN connection

 

.....Note: I create a group - Network Support group and added 4 team members

 

2.I then create a business rule saying if all is equal to or any of the following,  category is network department, sub category cisco router issues item unable to setup VPN connection then move to Network support team ....Note: basically what i have done below is a workflow of some sort, where i have defined certain parameters and if those parameters are met, then move to the network support team - which is a group/team i have created

 

3. Lastly i create an SLA which matches the above same parameters. The application is smart to attach the SLA to the network support team group So when a user filling out a self service incident form, selects the category, sub category and item field matching those parameters, and submits the form, the business rule takes effect and the SLA is attached

 

Please this is my understanding and i believe it is the same on every platform but i need direction to some of this configuration on SM as the names are very different and many


Indexing the Announcement workspace in Ivanti SM to be available on the intranet

I want to know if it is possible to index the Announcement workspace in Ivanti SM to be available on the intranet.

In other words, the announcements in ISM will be available on the intranet and when a user clicks on an announcement record, this should open in ISM

Printermapping based on Client IP address not working anymore

Printermapping based on Client IP address not working anymore - initially this node was being applied at "Desktop created", i changed it to "At user logon" but makes no difference.

case:  thinclient logs on to RDS server; EM sees Client IP and maps printer IP of correct subnet (physical location)

used to work with EM 8.6.x after upgrade to EM 10.1FR3 (almost sure) does not work anymore.

Same with printermapping based on client MAC address: Thin client on certain floor/room - based on Mac address - then EM maps correct printer which is located on that floor/room.

All servers 2012 r2.

Error while closing or converting an Incident or Request ticket.

Hello Community,

 

I am getting one error when I convert an Incident to Request and vice versa. The same error is occurring when I try to close both,the Incident and request ticket.

 

Error statement :

 

There has been an unexpected error. Click Continue to return to the previous page.

Attempt to write to attribute ResponseLevel of a read-only IncidentManagement.Incident lifecycle object. When a lifecycle object reaches a read-only status they cannot be modified except through a lifecycle action.

Display custom message once during software bundle

It is possible to display a custom message once during the initial install on a  bundle distribution, reboot then start the second software install with no message coming up?    

 

The problem I'm having is the custom message comes up a 2nd time upon the reboot to install the second software installation of the bundle, but truncated with not showing the full message with the snooze, delay buttons unless you drag the cornor of the message to make it full screen                  I have look at every setting, but there does not seem to be an option to only display the custom message on the first part software install of the bundle if there is a reboot between software installs.

Inventory is not updating

I've made an migration side by side from Ivanti 2016.3 to 2017.3 (in a new server 2012R2)

 

Since then, agents seem to have problems with product deployment and inventory.When I do a manual inventory, it starts to run and after 5 minutes I get the Lost Contact error.I have tried everything I have found on the web, the connectivity seems correct and there is nothing "different" about the old server.

 

 

 

 

Can you help me?

Dsm update 2017

Hello,

 

After updating DSM to the 2017 version we are having several problems. Some applications have been automatically uninstalled without user intervention. In addition, when you open the software shop they appear as installed and do not allow any action.
Has anyone had the same problem? Any idea of the reason?

How can button quick action call the assigned Creation Form instead of opening a tab?

We support citizens statewide, so we add dozens of new customers daily. To streamline this I created a minimal form to enter the unique information and rule to generate other data based mostly off the OU i.e. Public

We are storing all individuals in the Employee object with a CustomerType to distingusih the large groups.

 

Inside of Incident object, the Profile.QuickAdd form is assigned under Use Creation Form next to Employee.  If I click Edit beside it takes me to the correct form,

BUT

When the script attached to the NewEmployee button in the Incident CustomerOwnershipForm runs, it opens a TAB for Employee instead of the modal form assigned for creation.

 

What is needed to call that modal form from a quick action?

How can I present self-service to different client groups without revealing underlying identity?

We support several types of customers who use our various services through specific sites and domains. i.e. lawyers at xlawyer.com and citizens with tickets at xtraffic.com

Many of those support tickets are created by emails from web forms on the sites. With HSM, they will now be able to follow a link to self-service and check on the status of their tickets.

 

We want to implement HSM in such a way that when a lawyer checks on their ticket they see nothing that shows we are not just xlawyer.com.

Ideally it would present with the same domain in the URL as the website they were using.

Why is the first email slow after restarting HEAT?

A number of my users have recently begun experiencing this problem. I am gathering system details, but they are mostly using Windows 10 with Heat Classic 9.6.1

 

After restarting HEAT, the first email sent from an AutoTask like "Email Assignee" take 3-5 minutes.

After that the speed improves, but user is unable to do anything else with HEAT while waiting for this to finish.

Search And Link action returns an error on newly created CI#Object

Hello,

 

I created an extension to CI group object and want to add a Search and link action in a triggered business rule.

But when I select the search and link action type I always receive the error: Unhandled system exception: List is not found for table 'CI#Dongle'.

Things I tried:

  • creating another CI-object extension but I also get the error then.
  • creating the action separately and then do a copy in the businessrule bu I get the same error as soon as I select a relation.
  • creating the search and link action trigger on an existing CI#-extension doesn't seem to give an error.

 

I has worked because other extensions were created and use this action type.

Any idea to get around this ?

Windows 10 - Language Pack installation "dynamisch" gestalten

Hallo zusammen,

im Stau nach Hause hab ich mir über das Thema Language Packs in Windows 10 bei uns Gedanken gemacht. Wie der ein oder andere schon mitbekommen hab sind wir ein Dienstleister / Outsourcer, der bei mehreren verschiedene Kunden auch die Clients betreut. Unsere Kunden haben unterschiedliche Anforderungen an die Sprachauswahl der Clients. Derzeit gehen wir so vor, dass wir diese jeweils für den Kunden notwendigen Language Packs ins install.wim integrieren.

Wenn man dann so Scherze treibt wie regelmäßig mal den einen oder anderen Cumu mit ins Image aufzunehmen, das bei mehreren verschiedenen install.wims, und dann auch nochmal im 6-9 Monats Rhythmus beim Feature Update, kann das schonmal in Arbeit ausarten. Klar kann ich mir die install.wim Erstellung auch per Script zusammenbauen, gar kein Thema, aber ich hätte es gerne noch einen Tick einfacher

Da sich unsere Images bis auf die Language Pack Auswahl nicht unterscheiden, war mein Gedanke das einfach möglichst dynamisch zu gestalten.

Wunschvorstellung wäre, wir pflegen nur noch ein install.wim File und die Language Packs werden beim Setup automatisch mitinstalliert "was halt grad da liegt" ohne große Anpassungen z.B. in der Unattend.xml

Meine Grundüberlegung wäre, vor das OS Config Package ein Pre-OS Action Package zu schalten, welches mir die LP.CAB Files, die ich dort rein lege einfach lokal auf die Platte zieht, und das Windows Setup diese mit installiert. Nun hab ich mal folgende Ansätze:

- In der Befehlszeilenreferenz für die Setup.exe gibt es einen neuen Schalter seit Windows 10 namens "/InstallLangPacks". Der theoretisch genau tut was ich gerne hätte. Ordner angeben und er nimmt alles darunter mit. Allerdings steht nicht explizit dabei "wann" der gültig ist. In den Beispielen wird er nur in Verbindung "/Auto upgrade" verwendet für das Inplace Upgrade. Hat rein zufällig hier jemand mal getestet ob der auch funktionieren würde bei einer Windows Neuinstallation und vor allem in Verbindung mit einer unattend.xml?

- Einen RunSynchronus mit einbauen mit DISM.EXE /online /add-package... auf das lokale Verzeichnis (dank Markus weiß ich ja jetzt, dass es bei DISM auch reichen würde den Ordner anzugeben, und nicht jedes einzelnze Cab), allerdings hatte ich in der ersten W10 Version ziemlich Probleme und die wildesten Error Codes beim integrieren der .cabs in eine /online Installation. Hat sich da evtl. was getan?

Für das Upgrade von bestehenden Windows 10 Installationen kann ich ja mit relativer Sicherheit den /InstallLangPacks Schalter verwenden, nach dem gleichen Prinzip. Erst die LangPacks lokal legen via eScript, dann das Setup mit Parametern starten.

Hat jemand eventuell noch einen besseren Ansatz, etwas in diese Richtung realisiert oder sieht schon von vorne herein das ich auf dem Holzweg bin?

Ivanti Workspace Control 10.2 - Citrix XenApp 6.5 : Application can't be started

Hi,

 

since upgrade in Ivanti Workspace Control 10.2, when we publish Citrix application through Ivanti Console, we cannot launch them in any way !

 

A simple Calculator publication with basic parameters show an error message trough StoreFront : "Application Can't be started".

Parameters for this publication are attached in this message.

 

If we try to launch them directly through Ivanti Concole ("Run Application Now" button) we have a nice message > ... Application can't be started.

 

But if we unselect "Enable Instant Passthrough..." we can launch Calculator in this mode but same error message through StoreFront.

 

Details about our Citrix farm ; Citrix XenApp 6.5 R07 / Win2008 R2 with three Delivery Controller. All our server are in Ivanti 10.2.0.1 version...

 

This is urgent, we already began our migration to this new version ...

Service Manager configuration - loading application database extremely slow

We're deploying Ivanti Service Manager 2017.2 on-prem and experiencing a strange issue when creating and loading the application database. We had gone through the install previously, but had to blow it away and re-installed SQL 2014 on our DB servers as well and this didn't happen the first time. In the Service Manager Application screen, after clicking the "Load Application Database" button, the progress during the "Executing 11.SystemData.sql" phase is moving extremely slowly, like it looks like it's going to take at least 24 hours to complete. The first time we went through this process it took about an hour beginning to end. Server resources are not an issue, and nothing on the servers has changed other than an uninstall and re-install of the Service Manager application on the application servers and SQL on the DB servers. We have an enterprise deployment with a UI server, processing server and separate DB server for production, and the same for stage/UAT.

How to update the file path of linked documents

We just installed a new server and installed Goldmine 2018.1.  We have a quoting software that integrates with Goldmine and a link to the quote document is saved in Goldmine.  When the quoting software ware was moved, the path to the quote documents changed so now all of the links that pointed to the old sever are broken.  Is there any quick way to fix all of these links without going through hundreds of them one by one?

LANDesk Agent deployment issues

Greetings, new LANDesk admin here, question for the group.

 

What are the most common issues when deploying the LANDesk agent and only some machines are receiving it.  The failures might be related to how some of our machines don't seem to be allowing us to reach the administrative shares on the machines (C$, ADMIN$).  We are also seeing unpredictable responses when we do some NSLOOKUP commands on the troublesome machines so we are looking into possible DNS issues.  If you've rolled out LANDesk client and ran into issues with some of the windows machines in your environment, what did you have to do to fix them?  I don't want to have to install this manually.

 

Any advice or help is appreciated, cheers!

Software distributions fail for upgraded 2017 clients

Hi,

 

As part of our migration to LANDesk 2017 (10.1.30.401), we have upgraded over 1000 agents from 2016 and/or 9.6.

Unfortunately, all upgraded clients have lost the ability to install any software distributions.

 

Clients that are still running 9.6 or 2016 do not show these problems. Also, 2017 agents that were installed from scratch (no upgrade) are working fine.

The only workaround I have found is manually uninstalling the agent and reinstalling it - which is realy not an option considering the number of clients.

 

The behavior is identical for all upgraded 2017 clients:

  • Scheduled tasks remain 'Active' indefinitely (Result = "Client has started processing task" / Return code = "1354").
  • The sdclient_task####.log shows multiple failed HTTP requests, then shows "ERROR: Failed to submit to decrypt string"

Issues with InstallEase

Hello all,

    I have been trying to use InstallEase to create MSI packages for deployment.  I have been unable to create an installer that successfully performs the process. 

I have had a variety of errors in my testing.  One consistent one referenced some registry keys that had no value, and the MSI could not be created.  This persisted no matter how much I removed from the snapshot.  I did an easy one, where I copied files to the Program Files (x86) directory and then created links to those files and placed them on the desktop.  I was able to complete the process and an MSI file was generated.  After reverting the changes I made so I could test the installer, I attempted to use this MSI.  The "Gathering required Information" part takes longer that I have seen on other MSI installers.  I am not sure if that is related.  I get an error that it could not write a value to a key in the registry.  That I should check if I have sufficient privileges.

 

For reference, the details of this test environment are.  The OS is Windows 10 (latest build and updates) running as a VM (hyper-V).  Using a local user account that has admin privileges.  The Host OS is also a Windows 10 (latest build and updates) running on a Workstation laptop (Xeon processor, ECC RAM, etc).

 

Any thoughts are appreciated.
