Windows 10 1703&1709 unbarably slow remote control using LANDesk Remote Control

LANDesk Management Console 9.6 SP3 running on Windows Server 2008R2.

 

We consistently have to fallback to other remote control methods to help users remotely on our team.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason this occurs.  The response time from a click can take up to 30seconds, I've seen it!

 

We have ran the remote control from various machines around the network, even from the main landesk server and the problem still exists.

 

This happens on hundreds of newly installed Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit machines.  This can happen on machines that are on the same subnet as the current remote management console as well.  We have removed the posibility that this is network related.  The computers in question are all gigabit connected, SSD/i7 desktops that perform excellently locally.

 

One noticable nuance is that this problem often occurs on computers that have graphics cards installed.  Nvidia or AMD seems to make no difference.

 

Has anyone else noticed these issues?

best practice installing patches

Hello,

 

I have an enviromnet of about 1200 Windows machines. I need to implement a patching solution which would be minimally affecting users. My users complain about prompts to restart a computer. They shut them down when they end their day after 8 hours of work. This way computers are restarted everyday. Whey i deploy patches the percent of installed patches is low. Most of errors are return code 437 "The device must be rebooted first" but computers were already shut down and started so why do these errors happen? I was thinking about setting "ignore pending reboots" Would that be a good idea in my case?

Add Journal visibility tab.

Good afternoon,

Could someone help us on adding at tab in the information field to show the Journal entry. Right now, when we create a Comment (fig. 1) or a new Journal (Triage) (fig 2), we does not know it was entered unless we go to them. so we would like to add a tab (Fig 3) that shows that information.  Please help, thanks. -Jimmy Tang

Nach Update von DSM2016.2 auf DSM 2017 inkl. DSM_2017_Patch_4339 tritt bei einer Neuinstallation eines PC's immer an der gleichen Stellen ein Applikation Abbruch des NiInst32.exe statt.

Der Letzte in der log Dokumentierte Befehl ist ModifyOEMEx

How to make "system" a require field when close a ticket.

Hello, currently, when a ticket is set from active to resolved, system is a required field. however, when set from active to close, it does not show that. is there a way we can add that require in there? thank you

Software distributions fail for upgraded 2017 clients

Hi,

 

As part of our migration to LANDesk 2017 (10.1.30.401), we have upgraded over 1000 agents from 2016 and/or 9.6.

Unfortunately, all upgraded clients have lost the ability to install any software distributions.

 

Clients that are still running 9.6 or 2016 do not show these problems. Also, 2017 agents that were installed from scratch (no upgrade) are working fine.

The only workaround I have found is manually uninstalling the agent and reinstalling it - which is realy not an option considering the number of clients.

 

The behavior is identical for all upgraded 2017 clients:

  • Scheduled tasks remain 'Active' indefinitely (Result = "Client has started processing task" / Return code = "1354").
  • The sdclient_task####.log shows multiple failed HTTP requests, then shows "ERROR: Failed to submit to decrypt string"

Although the log file above shows failed HTTP requests, at the same time the IIS log file on the Core Server shows successful downloads:

A lot of my Windows (7 and 10) clients have the problem, that they do not accurately and in a timely manner their missing patches to the LANrev server. At the moment I perform the following tasks on the server to the clients to remedy the situation, which helps a little:

  • Gather Installed Software - Scan for missing operating system patches
  • Gather inventory
  • Run software distribution check

Now I had the idea to create and deploy a windows planned task to do this action on the client itself on a regular interval.

I do not wish to use the server to schedule these events as the command queue would fill up and the clients do not always have a solid connection to the server (firewall, etc). Actions started on the client side seem generally to run better.

 

I know there are command-line options for the LANrev client to send inventory and run a software distribution check. Is there a similar command for the os patch check?

 

For reference, these are the command line options I know about, feel free to add your own:

  • --SDCheck
  • --SendHeartbeat
  • --SendInventory
  • --ShowOnDemandPackages

FIND RECID OR OTHER VALUES FROM A BUSINESS OBJECT USING VALUE FROM ANOTHER FIELD

We have a need to find an unknown value stored in a field of a business object.

 

Unfortunately the only way we see in ITSM to do so is by using the RecID, which we do not know either.

 

Is it possible in ITSM to find a RecID using a field of known unique value?

 

Consider this to be the reverse of the EvalField function, which allows you to find a field value if you know the name of the business object, the RecID, and the field from which you want a value returned.

 

A simple implementation like GetRecID("BusinessObjectName", "UniqueField", "ValueToCheck") that returns a RecID should do the trick.

 

If function GetRecID as described above were available, the returned value could be used along with EvalField to find the value of a field even when the RecID is not known as follows:

 

EvalField("BusinessObjectName", GetRecID("BusinessObjectName", "UniqueField", "ValueToCheck"), "FieldToEvaluate")

hat jemand Erfahrungen gemacht mit Classic Patch und Office 365. Werden Patch Pakete bereitgestellt, welcher Art, und wie werden die Pakete letztlich ausgeführt (c2r oder herkömmlich).

Ich spreche hier nicht von Feature Updates sondern von monthly channel updates. Danke vorab.

Error creating new Connection Type

Hello,

 

I am working on a new Data Connection from a Generic Data Source (Spreadsheet). I have done this before with success, but am getting an error that I can't figure out a cause for. I have made the data connection tot he spreadsheet and tested the connection with no errors (See figure 1 below), but when I try to make the connection type and choose my fields and save, I am getting an error that a name attribute is missing, even though all values are populated (See figure 2 below). I checked the administrator guide .pdf and cannot find any useful information about this error to help me locate what I could be missing. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Personalize My item list content

Hi,

 

Actually (OOTB) the My Item object list is returning all incident/ Request /approvals

For incident it returns all incidents where the customer field matches with the current user

 

In my case end user can create incident for another person (change the customer field)

In this case In My items user don't see incidents created by him for another person

 

How to change this please?

TASK OwnerTeam/Owner: Auto-populate Team when Owner selected, when Owner constrained by OwnerTeam

Good day!

 

We have been successful using the constrained list for Owner, where a person selecting the OwnerTeam only sees the team members.

 

Sometimes we know who the Owner should be, but we do not know their team. In this case, we would like to leave OwnerTeam blank and select the Owner. Then the OwnerTeam should automatically fill in. Basically, the opposite of the OwnerTeam/Owner constraint. Since there would be only 1 value in the constrained list it would auto-populate.

 

We have tried a few ways to do this only to end up some kind of loop where the OwnerTeam is filled but the Owner then is emptied of the entered value and the selection list is empty.

 

Is it possible to do this centrally in the system within a PickList(s)? or do we need to use an Editing/Calculation rule for each object using Owner/OwnerTeam?

Building a Manager Field

Hoping someone can help.  I thought I linked it right, but must have missed something

 

In our LDAP connection we are going to start pulling in the Manager field from AD and putting it into the Supervisor(Manager) field in HEAT.

I have done a one time update in order to update the current database.

 

Right now I have a Manager listed for 90% of the active people (we are cleaning this)

 

The goal is this

I want to create service requests that do the following

 

1. On request - sends approval to the person's manager.  This is working, but the manager is not getting a notification to go and approve

 

What I tried to do...

Added in a Manager's email field into the Service request, with the hope that it would look at the Approver's name, and pull in the email.  Then I can send a notification based on this.

 

Let me know what screen shots anyone needs to help.

Problem with window calc firing on Yes/No attributes.

I am working on a Request window and am trying to set a field to be mandatory should either of these Yes/No fields be set to "Yes". I have the Yes/No fields set to 'calculate on change = Yes' in the window manager and when I perform a test on the calculation against a request record that I know SHOULD work, it comes back true like it should. The issue is that on the request window itself the field is not being set to Mandatory until after I hit the save button rather than making it required at the time 'Yes' is selected. below is an attached image of the calculation and the test results.
