Goldmine Field Mapping on MS Word 2013

Currently, we use the label 5167 template on word and use the field mapping goldmine feature.

 

When we open the saved template, over time, the label format is off.

 

Instead of having one page, we have two; and on the second page, the last row of the first page label template prints.

 

Any advice on how this can be resolved?

Chrome WSG Across Environments

With the possible impending 3rd party injection ban, I need to move Chrome to a WSG.  I already have a template from APS and I suspect it'll work well.  I find using WSGs to roam anything that has a high possibly of changing between environments (physical/virtual) problematic due to its rip and replace method.  I've separated most things out because of this with a few exceptions.  I've enjoyed having my bookmarks available with app personalization which provides fairly stable syncing.  Moving this to a WSG will likely cause problems between the environments due to lost bookmarks. 

 

Does anyone have any suggestions how to deal with this?  I'd love to just redirect them like IE favorites but I doubt that's much of an option. 

CI Service Filter - By Status

Hi all

 

We have a Business object for CI.Service which has all of our services listed regardless of Status - Operational, disposed etc.

 

We then link the Change/Incident/Problem to the relevant service.

 

The selection is currently showing all Services however I'd like to filter it so it only shows the ones with "Operational" as the Status.

 

I'm not sure how I apply this filter, whether its in the change/incident/problem module or the Service module itself.

Proxy Settings for All Users?

Good morning,

 

I have been in the process of troubleshooting predictive patch downloads for my sites, and have been working a few different angles. I was worried that I was having issues with our proxy, but I'm not sure.

 

Our setup:

 

COMPUTER1 - Online Host, downloads patches and distributes them to COMPUTER2. Also, other computers use roll data up to COMPUTER1.

COMPUTER2 - Offline host, acts as distribution server for COMPUTER3-5

 

The issue we've been happening is one of the sites has reported that whenever they initiate a scan, find new patches to download, wait several days, re-scan, it appears that the online server never downloaded the patches. I'm able to download them manually from COMPUTER1 successfully. I've verified that schedules are setup correctly and are configured to download Predictive Patches. I've also confirmed that COMPUTER5's scan results do successfully roll up to COMPUTER1, which should kick off the download when it runs its predictive patch download schedule.

 

One of the questions I have is: We are running this on a Windows Server 2012 R2 box. Multiple users will use this machine. Since multiple users login, multiple users may have different proxy IP addresses configured in Internet Explorer. How does Shavlik know which proxy IP to use? Is there a way we can check which proxy Shavlik has used?

Dynamic Data Policy based on SDM Group membership?

Xtraction 2016.2.6037.958 - Windows Authentication

against CA Service Desk Manager (SDM) 14.1.04

 

I have a requirement to create a data policy (if possible) that will restrict results to SDM Groups to which the user belongs (Member).  The idea here is to query the Member table under the CA Service Desk Admin\Groups data source using a variable for the login userid.  This would allow the policy to change dynamically based on changes to their group membership without an Xtraction admin manually updating their Group assignments in User Administration.  This would not require selection from the user.

 

First, has anyone completed this and can give pointers?

 

Second, I have a test Data Policy is which restricts the View to Inc/Prob/Req.  This works when applied to the user.  I am trying to add a Filter which uses the above Group view to look at the Member field,but am not sure how to set a Variable Filter. I've created a Variable but it is not available when I try to add it to the Data Policy filter.

Nothing to select and cannot paste a value here.

 

I've done the usual: logout, clear cache, reload data model.

 

So at this point, the user is restricted to the view but can see tickers from all groups.

kernel_security_check_failure when provisioning

I'm trying to provision a Dell 7390 2 in 1 laptop. I can hit the pxe but right after it loads the boot64 wim I get a blue screen with the error kernel_security_check_failure. I added the SATA drivers into the winpe but that didn't seem to help. Has anyone seen this before?

Initial Assignment Automation

Good afternoon,

 

Our present Incident process creates an incident and by default, assigns this incident to the Service Desk. Our current goal is to be able to allow the analyst creating the incident to choose which group to assign it to on creation, and if this value is left null, then to have the incident assign to the analyst creating it. I was able to modify the InitialAssignmentGroup attribute in the Incident object in the Incident Management module to not have a default value, thus prompting the user to populate the appropriate Support Group, but when testing this change, regardless of the group that is assigned, the incident assigns to Service Desk.

 

Currently, the beginning of the Incident process is below (which I believe is basically OOTB):

 

This assignment is what assigns to the Service Desk, as far as I understand it. Is there a value type I can set this to to use the group that is set in InitialAssignmentGroup?

 

So, to split my post into two questions:

 

1. How can we keep the initial assignment group from defaulting to Service Desk, and instead assign to the chosen group?

2. If that group field is left blank, how can get get the incident to assign to the analyst who is creating the incident? I imagine this will require a decision point added into the process, I'm just not sure how to proceed from there.

 

Any advisement is appreciated.

Writing template variables in WinPE through user input

For so many years, I've been seeing LANDESK/Ivanti touting their ability to have one template for all provisioning scenarios.  For the most part, this is true.  But, I am falling short of their nirvana because of  OU joining. 

 

Currently, we have 12 OU's that our PC's can land in and I have to maintain 12 separate templates that join the machines to these OU's.  I am doing the OU join in the unattend.xml during sysprep processing, not the join domain action in the system configuration pass of the provisioning template. 

 

I have been working on a batch file to run at the beginning of the provisioning process that will prompt the tech to enter the destination OU.  What I need to figure out is how to have this batch file write to the template variable, say %destination_ou%, that gets resolved when the inject script action injects the unattend.xml file.

 

ie:  <MachineObjectOU>OU=%destination_ou%,OU=Managed Computers,DC=COMAPANY,DC=CORP</MachineObjectOU>  gets resolved to <MachineObjectOU>OU=MyOU,OU=Managed Computers,DC=COMPANY,DC=CORP</MachineObjectOU> after the unattend.xml is injected.

 

Even if I were to use the join domain action in the system configuration pass, I would still need a way to pass the user input to the provisioning variable.  When testing to see the template variables, I can't see them in WinPE, such as %ldhostname% which gets set as a database variable in the template.  From a cmd prompt in WinPE, echo %ldhostname% shows %ldhostname% when echo %path% gives me C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C... etc.

 

Does anyone know of a way this can be done?

Change/My Items - Approval Votes (ex. CAB) - Cleanup Pending Approvals once Approved?

Good day!

 

Now we are starting to look into My Items and possibllities of Self-Service. I inherited the Change module.

 

I am seeing that when we send out the Approval request to the CAB team after a single approval occurs that the other Approval Vote Tracking records stay in a state of Pending. In this example you can see my friend Ellen Approved this Change. The other CAB members all have a Status of Pending.

1) SInce I can't see the My Items for the CAB team members I am under the assumption they are likely seeing these Pending items in their Approvals list? True?

2) Should these Approval Vote Tracking records be in some other status? Perhaps cancelled?

 

We approve via a single vote. A later Deny would not affect the Approved Status.

 

Have you handled this another way? I cannot find documentation that spells out how this may have been meant to work.

HTML Email Templates Worked in GM v6.7 But Not 2018.1HotFix1

Greetings,

 

We recently upgraded from Goldmine v6.7 to 2018.1HotFix1.  We have a number of HTML email templates implemented with the file command in the email body:

 

     <<file:R:\abc\xyz.html>>

 

These templates have worked flawlessly for years in v6.7.  However, in 2018.1HF1 our templates are having problems.  HTML email templates with tables are now quite disorganized.  Even basic numbered and bulleted lists aren’t displayed properly.

 

How do we restore the full formatting and functionality of our email templates in 2018.1HF1?

Accessibility options for users with visual impairment

We have a number of users who are visually impaired.  These users access applications using software such as "Jaws" to facilitate reading of forms.  However during testing of web desk, many of the fields appeared as "unlabeled".  We are interested in hearing back from any experience of how visually impaired users accessed web desk and what they found helpful

MDM progress bar still blocked during upgrade

Hi,

 

I encounter an issue when upgrading from 2016.4 to 2017.3 ( DB is on SQL 2016)

 

Upgrade ISD is done without errors.

Then, when I launch MDM, it seems working correctly but stopped progressing (after 130 seconds)

My framework is set on Explicit authentication and Time out is set to 900 seconds

 

When check the log generated, It seems that are issues with md_privilige_item

 

Anyone has gotten before this issue please ?

I have created a business object, and later I was trying to "convert to Group". But its getting an error "Failed to convert business object XXXXX to Group business object."
