Desktop icon positions are not retained with workspace control 10.2.700.1

During logon the desktop icon positions are not properly set for some icons.

The following errors are being logged:

 

Process: pfwsmgr.exe

Procedure: TryGetCurrentDesktopItems

Error#: 0

Error description: Wait for process '"C:\Program Files (x86)\RES Software\Workspace Manager\pwrx64.exe" iconinfo "C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\Temp\tmpFB61.tmp" 65880' failed (258 - Time-out van wachtbewerking).

 

and

 

Process: pfwsmgr.exe

Procedure: RestorePositionDesktopItems

Error#: 0

Error description: De objectverwijzing is niet op een exemplaar van een object ingesteld.

 

 

This occurs on all Citrix XenApp 7.13 servers with Microsoft Windows 2012R2 running, random users (approx. 30 people of 300+ sessions) and randomly during the day.

IVANTI Workspace Control 10.2.700.1, previous versions did have the error much more often.

The desktop folder has been redirected to the network.

 

From the tracing it seems some sort of timing related issue, the desktop listview doesn't seem to be available.

Are there still known issues because this should be fixed in the 10.2.700 release?


Write-Denied on printers Device Control 5.0

Hello,

 

We have recently set-up Device control for our network and seem to be having an issue with one networked printer.

 

I have added the Model ID of the printer into the device collection that we have allowed access to but users are still receiving Write-Denied errors when trying to print to the printer.

 

This printer has a static IP address but it not shared from any server so the driver is installed manually on each machine.

 

Any ideas?

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error Ivanti Service Manager

Hi,

 

When starting Ivanti Service Manager we receive the following error:

 

"Http error 500.19 - Internal Server Error" with error code 0x8007000d.

 

 

It is installed on a W2016 Server with ASP.net 4.6 enabled.

There was a previous discussion that Windows Server 2016 might be supported with ISM 2017.3.1, however the Requirements and Compatibility Matrix document still only has 2012R2.

 

Any update on this?

In my current emulator it is very easy to script things like:

 

5250 and 3270 emulation screens having multiple input fields which can be filled by scanning in arbitary order.

 

if the current screen is the target screen   (determined by reading text on the screen)

if the barcode is a SSCC   code                (determined by barcode length and the 1:st two digits being 00)

  then set cursor position to the target field for SSCC code

 

else  set cursor position to some other fields position

and so on..

 

 

how would one do the same in Velocity ?

Need to know the Calculation for making one field mandatory after selecting another field

Hi,

 

I have two fields called as "PHI Impact Risk" and "If Yes Explain" fields.   "PHI Impact Risk" is Boolean data type "Yes/No".  "If Yes Explain" is String.  I would like to write the code for -

 

If user selects "PHI Impact Risk" as "Yes", automatically the "If Yes Explain" should get converted to Mandatory field and should give warning to user mentioning "It is required field".

If user selects "PHI Impact Risk" as "No" then "If Yes Explain" should not be mandatory.

 

Attributes -

"PHI Impact Risk" the name/attribute in DB is "_PHIImpactRisk"

"If Yes Explain" the name/ attribute in DB is "_PHIimpactexplain"

Can someone please send me the calculation code for the above?

I currently work at an Educational Institution that uses Service Desk 7.7.1. I was told that this version is no longer supported and I am looking to upgrade. Since we have moved to a fully virtualized environment over the past 4 years, I would like to not only upgrade Service Desk, but upgrade the servers themselves. Since spinning up virtual machines is so quick and simple, I would like to setup an entirely new set of servers, Install the latest version of Service Desk and migrate, but all of the documentation points to an in place upgrade and I want to be sure of the correct steps. Our current environment is as follows:

 

Application Server -- Windows 2008R2

SQL Server -- Windows 2008R2/ SQL 2008R2

Web Server 2012 R2

 

I would like to spin up 2 new Windows 2016 servers for the App and Web Servers as well as migrate the database to an SQL cluster I created last year (2012R2/ SQL 2016).

I should also point out that we have the LANDESK Core product, which I upgraded in a similar fashion last year, that Service Desk already imports data from. I tested pointing the Service Desk to the new LD Core database and did a test import successfully. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd like to add a new approval to the SerivceReq object.   I have a use case where I need to send a specific message (and get acknowledgement) from the customer/end user on the Service Requests.   How could one add another Approval that can be selected from the Approval Block in the Request Offering Workflow?

A customer wants to have the Change calendar read-only for certain roles. Ivanti support gave me tha answer, this functionality does not exist. So I want to file in a feature request for this!.

Looking for a template that anyone may have used when designing workflows for service catalog.  Or maybe you just use Visio?  Or is there a way to extract workflows from Plan Request Fulfillment tab?

Outlook freezes when searching for contacts with the Goldmine link or sending linked emails

We recently upgraded to GMPE 2018.1.

 

After installing the new Goldmine Link for Outlook--not Goldmine Plus add-ins, whenever we link an email and attempt to search for a contact using the Goldmine Link for Outlook, Outlook becomes unresponsive.

 

If the contact is found automatically, however, we are able to link the email successfully, but if the email is an outgoing email, as soon as we click Send on the message, Outlook freezes for what appears to be an indefinite amount of time until we either end outlook.exe in task manager or reboot the machine.

 

We have followed the support document on how to completely remove the older add-in from Outlook and reinstalled the new GoldMine Link for Outlook several times and the issue still occurs.

 

The issue is occurring on a machine with Windows 10 Pro build 16299 x64 with Outlook 2016 on Office 365.

 

Has anyone else experienced this or know of a resolution?

How do I translate the 'Save for later and Review and submit' buttons in Self Service mobile?

Is it possible to change the Save for later and Review and submit buttons displayed when submitting a Service request in the role Self Service mobile? I have tried the administrator role in the Self Service mobile, but no options to change the buttons. I have even tried to look for them in the Translation tool but since I don't know what the buttons are called I couldn't find anything.

 

We are using Ivanti Service Manager 2017.3.1.30958

self service templates don't apear on the selfservice dashboard

I have created several "Quick Action" templates for incidents.  I save them as SelfService Templates. For some reason, the only roles that are able to be published to are Service desk Analyst and Service Desk Manager.  I want these to be used by Self Service users and to appear as templates in the Self Service "Home" dashboard as "Report an Issue Using Template".  None of my saved self service templates are showing up in the dashboard. What am I missing?

Looks like by default the system uses Email as the source for auto generated incidents that come in from the email listener.  Is there any way to change that source?

 

My manager wants to make a clear distinction from system generated and manually created incidents. Our service desk uses email as well when they get a direct email to them.

I know I can make a new source and have them use that, but the less work for them the better.

Is there a way to remove the "All" entry under Favorite Searches?

Is there a way to remove the "All" entry under Favorite Searches? Since "All" is not a saved search, I can't figure out a way to remove this from the drop down of saved searches.

I have the need to restrict a certain role to only see saved searches for a specific set of Incidents that were assigned to the team and owner but to not show all of the Incidents to users in this specific role.

Is the "All" option baked into the product or can this be removed?

a quick question: where can I translate the "Watch List" button?

 

 

It's nowhere to be found when looking at the translation tool neither can it be found in the frs_def_translation table on the database.

OSProvisioning Agent Install fails in Windows 10 Provisioning

I recently had issues provisioning Windows 10 v1703 and wanted to share the solution. It was not happening on every machine but appeared to be at random.

The problem was that once the OS had loaded  and signed in for the first time, the OSProvisioning Agent would fail to install.  This would in turn kill the entire process.

 

When the OS starts up the first time, Cortana would look for and install updates. This is where the agent would actually fail to install.

In order to stop this from occurring I had to edit our unattend.xml OOBE settings to disable Machine and User OOBE as shown below.

                <HideOnlineAccountScreens>true</HideOnlineAccountScreens>

               <SkipMachineOOBE>true</SkipMachineOOBE>

                <SkipUserOOBE>true</SkipUserOOBE>

            </OOBE>

 

Once these changes were added, Cortana never popped up and the machine did a final reboot after all the devices had installed. The desktop finally appeared and the OSProvisioning Agent installed.

This will not only stop the Cortana animation from popping up on each machine which can be annoying in a quiet office but it will also put enough time in-between the OS finishing setup and the Agent attempting to install.
