GoldSync Silent Mode Using a License

GoldMine Premium, v2016.1.0.182; Windows Server 2008 R2

 

This customer has 10 GM Licenses, 7 of these are undocked.  That means 3 people in the office should be able to log in at one time.

 

GoldSync is running in Silent Mode, not as a Service.  Years ago, Silent Mode did not use a license.  However, I've been finding in the last few years that it does.  With the configuration I gave above, out of the 10 licenses, 7 are undocked; GoldSync is in silent mode on the server and only 2 people can log into GM in the office.

 

Will they need to start using GoldSync as a service?  The only reason I'm not enthusiastic about running it as a service is for those time when you need to troubleshoot - you can't see what it's doing or if anyone is synching at the moment.

 

Should silent mode not use a license?

Installing Microsoft Teams

Hiya

 

I am wanting to installing Microsoft Teams as part of my OS deployment task sequence.

 

There are install files as an EXE or an MSI

 

The EXE installs only to the local user app data folder.

 

The MSI will install it for each user when they log in for the first time so it is this i want to use.

 

It installs successfully during the build but when I then log in as a user it doesn't appear to run and install.

 

Has anyone successfully installed it so it appears for users when they log into their device?

Windows 10 and Citrix SelfServicePlugin (Receiver)

Hi everyone,

 

we are piloting Windows 10 with ivanti Workspace Control. We have huge performance problems with Citrix Receiver and its Self Service Plugin.

When a user logs on, and has many Terminal Server applications (e. g. 100+)  it takes way to long for the SelfService.exe to create the start menu icons for this applications.

The Citrix Receiver settings are set by a GPO, with SSO enabled and a SSO Store configured, also the settings where the icons should be created and so on.

We removed the default startup reg key for the Receiver and start it via Workspace Control Execute Command:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client\SelfServicePlugin\SelfService.exe" -logon -poll

It is not a problem to start any Terminal Server application but power users with a ton of applications have to wait about 15 min. for all icons to be created and the SelfService.exe stops using 80% performance.

We do not manage the Citrix apps via Workspace Control. Windows 10 build 16299, Receiver version is 4.9.3000, Workspace Control version shoul be 10.2.900.0, Store Front version is 3.5.0.

 

The interesting thing is that when we disable Workspace Control everything works fine and the Receiver poll/refresh is done in less tha 2 minutes and all icons are available

 

Maybe some one of you guys experience the same problems or has got an idea what goes wrong.

EPM 2017.3

i need to restore a snapshot before sending an install task on some clients, the vms are running in vmware, I was able to complete an script using powershell (in conjunction with powercli) to restore the snapshot, the thing is that to run the script, the machine that runs it has to have certaing prerequisites installed, powercli and some variables.

So as far as I can see it now (I don't really know) I need to:

1. Run the script from a machine with this configuration (I would need to have a machine in stand by just to run the powershell/powercli commands)

2. Run my normal Software distribution task after the restore is completed.

 

Is there another way to do this?

I found this: Creating and deleting snapshots the reference doc is for hyper-v for which Normal powershell would work (installed on the core) but no the additional powercli requirements.

Can I install powerCLI in my core?

 

Any reference is appreciated.

MalformedXml.ErrorLog files

This log file (MalformedXml.errorLog) is huge in all three of our tenants. Everything seems to be working fine, so I haven't been too concerned with the contents. I periodically delete them, and the systems create new ones, but the get extremely large. Can anyone shed some light on this log?

Determine Which Email Listener created the Journal.Email record

Hello Team, we have a
unique scenario here at OSFI with regards to Email Listeners.

Background: ( I will try my best to explain… it’s
a unique situation)

 

We have 3 different sections
using HEAT to manage their requests with record segregation (so they cant see
each others requests and emails)

ITSD:

Security:

Facilities:

Each section has their
own email listener ( The listener does not create an incident, emails go into an
Email Triage object in which the Agents will either spawn an incident or
request from it) . All works just fine when an email is sent exclusively to 1
listener, BUT, it is very common for an email to be send to more than one of
the listeners above.

I:E. in the To:  field, it contains all 3 listener address’s.  When an email comes in, I have a before save
calculation rule that evaluates the To and the CC, and if it finds the
respective address, it sets a Boolean field, which then enables visibility of
that email for the respective role. Also, each listener will create a
Journal.Email record for the email it found in its inbox ( which can also be
fine if….see below). Initially I had this as a single text field that would
insert which Role it is visible too but then the scenerio arose where it is
common for a single email to be sent to multiple listeners address so each role
would need to see this email.

 

The issue they are
having is when this scenario arises, each listener pics up the email it found
in their inbox and creates the Email Record, my before save calculation evaluates
the To:  and CC: and sets those Booleans to
true on all 3 Journal.Email records, which in turn causes the email to show up
multiple (up to 3 if all address where in the To/CC) in each groups email triage
bucket.

 

 

Is there a simple way
to determine which Email Listener created the Journal.Email record? If there is
this would resolve ALL our issues here!!!

I see if we select Incident
as the processor and I check of ‘Include Source Email Name’ it is ‘Supposed’ to
set the createdby value to the address the listener is listening on. ( Did a
quick test and it still showed InternalServices as the createdby)

Also we do not want
every email to create an incident so I can’t even use this feature anyways.

I have not been able to successfully patch a machine using patch definition W10V1803_ENU
I have copied the ISO and it is downloading locally but does not seem to be installing.

 

What issues have others seen?

What is everyone's success/failure rate using this method?

Any suggestions are always welcome...

False Patch Missing Status

We have system that is displaying several updates as missing even though they are installed on the system. Verified using get-hotfix and installed windows updates. Also checked against the patch detection details that Ivanti uses. Re-scanned system and refreshed the view several times but it won't show the patches as being installed. Also it seems to want to install Q3063109 even though the VM is no longer hosted on Hyper-V anymore.

 

Is there anyway to fix the issues.

How do you use the attribute "ASSET ID" ? I don't know the purpose of it. I can just used the Asset Name instead. Let me know your thoughts.

Drop down menu

Hi Everyone!

 

Just came back from hiatus! I need your help once more. Is there a way to control a certain drop down menu let say..."Location". I would like to find a way to control the drop down Location menu on CI or Asset Window to only show certain locations like IT-Closet-Location1, IT-Closet-Location2, and so on. This way, our help desk technician will be forced to pick where the CI/Asset is stored.

 

Any help is always appreciated!

Secure Distribution of Software

We are currently using UNC paths for all of our software packages.  We have setup the permissions on the UNC paths so that only the client systems have access to that particular folder.  This is to help protect our software repos from unauthorized access.  I would like to move to using HTTPS so that I can get around firewalls to clients that are not on our home network.  Is there a way to use HTTPS to distribute software that requires the system to authenticate?

Copy Date field in a Parent/Child Change Request

Hello All, has anyone been able to copy a date/time attribute from a Parent request and pass it to the Child request when the Child request is created? I have tried but on date/time attributes there is no option to select a value for date/time fields? Has anyone accomplished some other method that would work better than what I am describing? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

APM - viele Patch Pakete schlagen fehl

Hi Leute,

 

wir haben hier ein Problem seit dem wir auf APM gewechselt haben. Wir sind auf DSM 2017.1.4350.

 

Wir haben unter dem Konfigurationsreiter festgelegt das Patch Installation 3x wiederholt werden. Jetzt haben wir auf sehr vielen Clients das unterschiedliche Patche auf rot gehen ohne Rückgabe Meldung:

 

Startet man den PC neu und setzt die Pakete auf reinstall gehen die Pakete plötzlich auf "Not applicable, superseded or fixed externally". Spannend dabei, wenn die Pakete ja rot sind, sind sie ja schon 3x versucht worden zu installieren. Von einer anderen Quelle werden definitiv keine Updates installiert. WSUS ist nicht vorhanden und Windows Updates komplett deaktiviert. Auch hab ich das nochmal auf den Testclients geprüft ob die GPO wirklich zieht. Die Windows Updates sind aus.

 

In den Logs werden die Pakete teilweise auf "complete" gemeldet und trotzdem gehen die Pakete auf gelb oder rot.

 

Ich hab ebenfalls beobachtet das Pakete grün geloggt werden. Wenn der PC dann nicht direkt neugestartet wird und das APM erneut los läuft, gehen die Pakete plötzlich wieder auf reinstall und projezieren dieses Verhalten.

 

Hat hier Jemand ähnlich Probleme?

I need to list all incidents I have worked on, including all "non active". However, the search will *only* ever return Active incidents.

 

How can I get a list of all my closed and resolved incidents?

Anyone come across this error when using OpsConsole push to replace:"Error Cannot perform the push because the two landscapes have different releases. All landscapes are same version though. All restore options give same error". Anyone know how to resolve or where to start looking? Using ISM version 2017.2.1000.27030.

How to prevent the creation of duplicate incidents for the same customer?

We frequently log duplicate incidents for customers.  I've created a "Customer History" button on the incident form which, when clicked, will display the customer's history - with the most recent incidents listed on top.  This is somewhat helpful but my agents rarely use this button proactively when logging incidents since the vast majority of the time, there isn't a duplicate out there. We've also attempted to use the Object Matching feature to find the open incidents.  This worked... sort of.  However, we frequently got unexplained results from this.  I contacted Ivanti Support regarding this and they were unable to help.  Basically just told me that this isn't what Object Matching was designed to do.

 

So, I've been trying to come up with a way to proactively alert my agents by configuring the system to automatically detect and notify them when it finds an "active" ticket for the customer that they are attempting to log a new incident for.  I think that I may be on to something but i can only get halfway there.  I've created a Validation Business Rule on the Incident object - see below for a screen print of what it looks like.  The "CustomerHistoryBypass" that you see in the expression is just a check box that i put on the Incident form that the agents can check to bypass this validation rule.  This would be used in cases where there actually is an existing incident but it does't apply and therefore would not be considered a duplicate.  So checking the box would allow you to proceed with saving the new incident.

 

Here's my problem though, the expression below just looks for customer history in general - if there has ever been an incident logged for the customer in question, this expression would be true, regardless of what the status of those incidents are.  What i need is to find a way to write an expression that ONLY looks for and finds "Active" incidents for the customer.  Does anyone know how to do this?

 

Problem wiht Web API "AccessDenied"

I have a problem to connect to Ivanti Web API. Ivanti API returned  "Unhandled system exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: AccessDenied"

 

1. I have a user (my-user) in my tenantId and I can successfully connect and login to Ivanti Web page. I have no any problems there. I can manually create incidents.

2. But when I try to connect to Ivanti system with Ivanti Web API service, I get the error message: "Unhandled system exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: AccessDenied"

 

Details:

 

* I used soupUI tool and sent the following SAOP message to Connect to Ivanti Web API
