Distribution package fails, return code 105

Hi

 

We have just downloaded the LANDESK 9.50 on a server. It is still running in trial mode. Im trying to test Distribution packages.

Im distributing a msi package. The destination has the new agent and it appears to be working fine. When I run the task it fails on a return code 105.

Here  is an extract of what I see in the "view log file" option.

Email Listener IMAP with TLS

Hello,

 

We are trying to configure IMAP in exchange 2007 environment, imap is configure with TLS in exchange for security reasons. could anyone please explain how to configure the email listener with TLS.

9.5 - LANDesk Agent Deployment Upgrade "Agent setup program returned an error" (Push Deployment)

Upgraded agents from 9.0SP3 to 9.5AllPatches and a good portion of the agents failed to update during the push deployment. The error received in the scheduled tasks window is "Agent setup program returned an error". I remember seeing this occasionaly the last time we did a deployment but rerunning the task on the computers that had failed generally came back successful. Not the case with 9.5.

 

Every machine that fails has the same symptoms, which leads me to beleive they are failing for the same reason. If you check the services on a computer that had a failed installation, the ONLY landesk services that are present are "LANDesk Targeted Multicast" and "LANDesk(R) Management Agent". A way to repair the agent on the computer, is that I can run Uninstallwinclient.exe then install the agent manually with a self contained exe and the installer goes through just fine. The problem is I cannot afford to do this on every single computer that has failed. I am still working on a way to identify all of the agents that did not install correctly. At the moment I am considering a loginscript vbs file that checks for the existance of the core landesk services.

 

I have attached the wscfg32.xlg file with the hops that someone can point out why the agent install is failing on so many machines. If any other information is needed please let me know.

"SmaSeed cannot open the task file."

Hi all,

 

I have captured a profile from a Windows XP system and when I restore it to a Windows 7 machine I get this error message "SmaSeed cannot open the task file." The profile is not applied. Everything seems to be copied to the destination PC (c:\_SMA ).

Anyone a idea what can cause this?

Schedule Sync Rollup 9.0 with Core Server 9.5

I have an environment with two core server, one 9.0SP3 and another one with 9.5, the issue is that when I used the schedule task to make a rollup sync, the Core Server 9.0 SP3 works, but the Core Server 9.5 no works the schedule stay with working status and no concludes the task.

 

I would like know it is an issue or if is incompatiblity between versions?

Adobe Vulnerability Definitions

I noticed that all my Adobe product vulnerability downloads for April 2013 are missing the APSB references in the definitions and the links are incorrect.

 

For instance, for Adobe Flash -

This month is has this info: Title =  Adobe Flash Player Plugin (version 10.3.183.75)

In the description tab the more information at: link point to http://get.adobe.com/cn/flashplayer/ which opens up a Korean download page. (I dont read Korean) ;-)

In the past the title of the patch had this info:  Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin (apsb13-09)(version 11.6.602.180) with the correct links in the description tab.

Unable to find the remote control web service on 'ServerName'

I have a new install of LD 8.8 SP2 that I have set up to test with. When I try to RC a client from my test core server, I receive the error above and am asked for username/PW, which none work. I have done a search and found the following, but not sure how to add the -s switch, as I am right clicking on a client and selecting Remote Control from the list.

Not Joining Domain

I am using landesk 9.5  I have read through the forums and have seen this problem in the past, however all responses were from 2010 and pointing towards a patch. I have stopped the firewall on the source image, there is no MPS process running in the services.  When syspreping, I am Choosing, Audit mode, with NO Generalize clicked and shutdown. When I deploy my image everythign works great except that it it either 1) doesn't join the domain, or 2) is unjoining at the end.  I can't figure out how to tell the difference.  My image loads, the accounts log in fine (I've verified those independently) and LD client loads from the server with out fail.  However, when it's all said and done, it's in a workgroup and I get that network selection dialogue box.  Below is the XML (with PW"s removed)

 

 

 

 

Deploy template upon log-on or shut-down (Xenapp 3.4) - LDMS 9 SP3

Hi Guys,

 

Has anyone tried to upgrade Xenapp reciever 3.4 (or earlier versions) upon log-on or user shutdown? This being so the user does not see this. Just require a point of direction or thoughts on how to accomplish this. Im currently floating in the right direction where i can deploy it upon log-on by scheduling but it loads everything including xenapp (confusing the user) and then it after its all loaded begins provisioning. Xenapp obviously dissapears to uninstall\install the newer version and the user might have allready clicked on it. This obviously that would confuse the user. i have renamed/disabled the provisionGUI.exe so nothing is seen by the user as a starter. Just the process of provisioning running late

Simple Report that shows specific times

Hi All

 

First post here on the community forum - we have our DEV system in now and I want to create a report that looks at all incidents but only shows those logged between 1630 and 1800 for the last 3 months.  I am completely new to Crystal and Service Desk so hopefully some of the veterans can help me out as I imagine it cannot be that difficult!

right click on shortcut bar in console

Hi,

 

On my test system, in console I can right clik on shortcut to get menu and i.e. open it in new window, but in production - I cannot - nomenupops up. Does anyone knows how to turn it back? Is somewhere any option to turn on/off right click menu?

Run field in RC viewer not showing file from system32

Hello,

 

There is a program, nltest.exe, in the C:\Windows\System32 directory that resets the AD domain secure channel on the local machine.  When I try to run this from the remote control viewer, it gives a message that the file was not found.  If I try to browse to the folder to find it, the RC browser does not show it available, but I can browse to this path and see it available when logged into the computer.

 

Why would the RC viewer not be able to see the file?  I've checked the attributes and it is not hidden.

LDMS 9.5 computers disappearing from console

Good Afternoon,

 

My configuration is I had LDMS 9.0 installed SP3, then I performed an in place upgrade to LDMS 9.5 using a SQL2005 Enterprise Database

 

I have about 1000 nodes on Landesk.

 

I have just noticed that there are a few nodes that do not show up in Landesk Console

 

I went to one of the computers and performed an inventory scan figuring that would fix it, it still did not show up, then I ran a security and compliance scan from the computer, the security scan failed with no code.

 

Any ideas??

Where are windows in the database

Is it possible to get the window labels from a SQL query in the database. We have changes that use different windows for some tasks and our reporting team need to know the labels to identify the value in the cm_task table.  Does anyone know where information about the windows is stored in the database.

LDAPWHOAMI.EXE -- Bug in LANDesk 9.0 SP3 service???

We had a curious thing occur -- I will explain as best I can. Gradually, over the course of a few weeks, many but not all of our workstations (with users logged in) started hammering the hell out of the Domain Controllers in our environment. This resulted over time in bringing a number of them down and increasing congestion over the network. Turns out that ldapwhoami.exe was the culprit and it was repeatedly attempting, hundreds a second, to try to reach an AD OU. The process was running at 40% on the workstation. When the OU was created, apparently authenticated users did not have read or write permissions and it was felt that those rights were not necessary. Once they started dumping users into the OU and those users would log in, ldapwhoami.exe would try to update the inventory but it would fail at that OU and retry continuously (indefinitely). When we gave read permissions to the OU all of our problems went away.

 

Question is...Is this a bug or would this be attributed to normal behaviour? You would think that after a few failed attempts that ldapwhoami.exe would stop trying until the next inventory scan at least and not run continous on the machine.

Emails from iOS and OSx devices bounceback saying unable to 'create'

When a user sends emails into our service desk from a Mac running Outlook or from an iOS device they receive the bounceback saying Service Desk was unable to 'Create'.

Has anyone else seen this before?

W3Wp.exe - IIS Worker Process Memory Utilization

On our LanDesk Service Desk 7.5 SP1 servers the Memory Utilization for the IIS Worker Process - w3wp.exe is using up all the available memory.  We did not have this issue when we were on 7.4 using the same servers.

Do we have something misconfigured?

 

If I end the process on our Application Server we can no longer access the Service Desk Console.

If I end the process on our Web Server we can no longer access the Web Desk Console.

Method to Reboot Computers

Has anyone developed a consistent method for determining computers that have not rebooted in a specific period of time (say 30 days) and prompting the end user that they need to reboot their computer, yet still giving them the option to either cancel or defer the reboot for a period of time?

 

 

I've been able to create a Custom Vulnerability to determine that a computer hasn't been rebooted in 30 days, based on the last boot up time. And even though the vulnerablity scan shows the computer is vulnerable, the reboot never occurs (even though required in the Custom Definition - Detection Rules)

 

I also followed the documentation below, and set the final package to reboot the computer, after a Policy Repair task for the above Custom Vulnerablity.

So far, I have been unsuccessful. Either I'm missing something simple in the custom definition, or I'm going at it from the wrond direction.

 

Any ideas?
