Inbound mail manager and auto creation IPC?

$

0

Hi,

I would like to allow my users to update - add note ant attachment - IPC's by mail, so keyword is set to "Aktualizacja:" ("update" in polish), and this works fine.

I would like to prevent my users to create IPC's by email. And this part works for incident and request, but problems are created.

If an email is sent to incident@mycompany.com (incident mapping) - I'm getting response as is configured in administration/mail/action settings: "The process Incident is not in a valid state to carry out the action. Or the process Incident does not support the Action Create."

If an email is sent to problem@mycompany.com (problem mapping) - process is creating a new problem, with empty data (title, details...)

I'm trying to find difference between my incident and problem process - but from my prespective - they are the same.

Where to look to turn off creating problems by mail?

Hello guys,

is it possible to join domain to a specific OU during provisioning ?

I have tried to configurate this part in my unattend.xml, but it doesn't work, i don't know why.

How do you handle this ?

Here is my unattend.xml

I need to edit the EULA that my users agree to when they enroll their device. I have been looking for a week through documentation and can't find where the file is located. Can anyone point me to where the text for it is?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have an Activity.rpt then can supply?

I have asked Landesk for an OOTB Activity.rpt but they have come back to say that haven't got an OOTB report for this.  Does anyone have a rpt that they could send me?  Ideally i'm looking for something that has audit trails within it.

Many thanks

How to find out which version of Java is installed on a group of PCs

I need to install a specific version(older release) of java runtime on about 20 PCs.

how can i find out what version of java, if any, is installed on each of these machines.

some of these may have the latest version installed, in your opinion, what is the best practice for removing that and installing an older release.

HP Quality Center web deployment

$

I have about 100 end points that need to be setup to access our web version of HP Quality Center (HPQC). This is also known as HP Application Lifecycle Management: Quality Center Edition.

Navigating to the website prompts for an install of an add-in called ALM-Platform-Loader.11.cab.

I have figured out this installing an ActiveX plugin (an ocx file.)

I suspect there are also 4 other cab files that are associated: setup_a.cab, SprinterPlugin.cab, setup_SPI.cab, and setup_apm.cab. These seem to all include INI files with the same names.

I have yet to deploy anything like this before and could really use some guidance. I've found a few things online regarding copying the OCX file and then silently using regsvr32.exe to register it. I really feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzel.

To make matters worse, this is required for some UAT that begins this coming Monday. And as much as I'd love to say they let me know last minute so too bad; well that's not really happening.

Thanks so much for all the help, in advance.

SLA Escalation point on assignment

Hello

Had a quick look about but couldnt find anything about this, quite simply we would like the SLA to triggers/ends when someone clicks the 'assigns to me' action or on the assignment that follows rather than simply entering a status or leaving the status. Our response levels are based on when someone is actually working on this issue not when its assigned to the group waiting for someone to pick it up.

The only other way around it is to have a load more 'other' statuses after the assignments.

Cheers of any help

Can not apply payload for Access Point Name configuration

$

Hello to all.

I am having troubles to have an "Advanced" payload applied to our fleet of iPads (iOS 6.1.3). The payload should set the

APN (Access Point Name) of our mobile broadband network but the configuration is not getting on the mobile devices. All

the iPads still have the "APN" field not configured (it's blank).

iPads are both iPad3,3 and iPad3,6 (based on LANDesk inventory)

iOS is 6.1.3 for all of them

LANDesk Core Server is 9.50.0.530

MDM is 9.0.4

Thanks to everybody in the Community!

Mac 9.5 Agent configuration RC not working

$

Hi everybody,

We have just upgraded from LDMS 9 SP2 to 9.5 and having pretty good results so far. One exception is the agent deployment for the MACs. I am able to deploy the new agent with our prior settings, and they will update properly and report in for inventory, software updates, etc. BUT, I cannot use traditional remote control to access them as before, and learned that only HTML5 remote control is supported with the new agent.

The problem is, how do I properly configure the agent to allow HTML remote control? I do not see any of the screens described in the documentation (http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-27438) though I did enable HTML access in our RC setting page under "Agent settings" for our default RC settings. However, I don't see how the MAC agent is able to use these settings since I don't see a screen to point to them as I do with the windows agent config.

How can I configure my mac agent to give us some sort of remote control option, am I missing something?

Thanks in advance,

Deploying Windows 7 images

$

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else, but I can't find the solution. I have read the BKM but this a little sparse.

Situation,

I want to deploy windows 7 images via OSD and Provisioning.

I would rather use ImageX for the image as don't want to have to create different images for different HD sizes which I believe is a failing of ImageW.

When installing Win 7 there are two partitions.  The primary partition as expected and the new system reserved 100MB partition.

Both are required but OSD only asks for one .wim file. Presumably we need 2, one for each partition?

Has anyone got round this issue?

How do you capture and deploy both images?

Thanks

Steve

Removing Preferred Server

My Preferred Server was not working properly so i removed it.  Now when I deploy the package it is still looking for the Preferred Server and then fails.

I have rehased the package and also recreated it without any luck.

What other way should I remove the Preferred Server? or what else do I need to do?

I removed it from Content replication/Preferred servers > Preferred servers (Targets) > deleted the server I had setup to test.

Pending Restart - RDP causes pc to reboot

On LDMS 90 sp3...  Basically, when one of us from IT is out on a client pc & needs to connect back to our own pc to access AD or some other tool, if we have a restart pending from landesk, the pc will restart after we disconnect the Remote Desktop session.

Has anyone else experienced this & is there a way to stop it?

Thanks!

Message from Product Management about Web Desk and Console

$

0

Hi everyone,

There's been a lot of discussion recently relating to the future of console and web desk. In response to this, Product Management wanted to give you the update below. As always, your thoughts and comments will be much appreciated.

Thanks to all involved in the community in highlighting your concerns and needs in this direction. In meeting with you at events, on phone calls and webinars and in one to one meetings we do hear a range of needs around Web Access evolution, and the importance of continued development both of new and innovative features as well as the user-experience issues that would enhance your day to day use of current functionality. As we hopefully have communicated in these events and meetings over the last few years, we are committed to making Web Access the majority default platform for our customers. This remains a fundamental priority for us.

Be assured that we do not plan to phase out the windows Console from Service Desk until we reach a point where all operational, configuration and design items can be presented in an up to date, web-friendly form. We are nearly there on the operational side, and see the configuration design pieces in the further future. To speed that process we are focussed on introducing features, value and continual user experience improvements into the web platforms first, and at times, exclusively.

Do also note that there is a fundamental difference in the behaviour and ability between the technology behind the two delivery models. They are different and we do not intend to force-replicate behaviour from a windows client into a browser. Rather we prefer to leverage the benefits of the browser delivery, which leads to different remodelling of concepts. As an example, is right-click really the best way to access functions like remote control in-context in web-access, just because that's how it is in Windows applications? We don't expect web sites to work with right click usage, so is there a better way to present in-context actions and related information?

One of the great benefits of the Community is you can be sure the items you vote upon – and describe in discussions – really are read and recognised. Because of your input and contribution we really do have a good understanding of where effort and focus should be applied to continue to enhance the general usage web experience for support analysts. Please be reassured that the areas  highlighted by some customers to help their transition from currently using the Console to the Browser are appreciated and understood. In 2013 we currently plan to work in these areas, and continue to deliver greater value to you both in new features, but also in that important area of User-Experience of existing features. The items you listed (and voted on) have been reviewed and the resources and time to work through is included in our planning. We anticipate work on these items will start during this year, to allow a number of these to appear in our next major release.

Other activities related to this are background work on our communication with our customers. There are exciting changes around how we plan build and deliver product value to you, both in the cloud and on premise, and we are looking at ways to keep you continually informed and involved in the conversations. Watch this space.

Anyway, in summary. Your input and enthusiasm for LANDesk Service Desk is greatly appreciated. We are hard at work continually moving Service Desk forward, and your comments – particularly your ER voting – do of course play a major part in enhancing LANDesk Service Desk.

Thank you,

Lara

How to create a calculation on a category field that updates if the category above changes?

$

0

Some help please - I've got the calcuation working, but I think the dependencies need tweaking to get it to calculate when I need it to.

The problem I'm trying to solve is that I have a category for the users office location, with the next level down being the floor where they are.

Location dropdown.JPG

So the fullname on these categories would be Academic House - 1st Floor etc.  However, in reporting and the dashboard graphs I need to group by the office rather than the floor, so the parent value.

I've created an attribute on location which I've called Grouping, and am calculating this.

calc.JPG

This works in that if I change the text on the office (top level category), the Grouping equals that category name.

If I change a second level category, the grouping for that category calcuates correctly.

What I want to add too is that if the top level category is amended, it calculates the Grouping on all the categories below it as well.

RS507 - No controll-LED's after a BT reconnect

On a RS507 connected to a WR4090 thru BT the controll LED in the back of the RS507 wont work after a reconnect while having a WLIB Session open. The controll-LED's work as expacted when I connect the firste time after the WLIB was started. Then I can do Barcode-Scans and the Control-LED's work as expected. I also tested the preinstalled WLTE and the controll-LED's worked fine even after a RS507 BT reconnect. Also if I'm using just the Motorola DataWedge I can reconnect the RS507 to the WT4090 as often I want to. The controll-LED's keep working. Fo me it looks that the WLIB 7.3 is having a Problem here!

Does someone know about this problem or has any i dea how to solve it?

The file 'AvaInit' cannot be opened

$

Afternoon,

We have experienced a number of devices with several customers where we are finding that we cannot connect to devices.  When speaking to the clients, they have told us that a pop up has come on the screen saying:

The file 'AvaInit' cannot be opened.  Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found.  If the problem persists, try reinstalling this file.

From our perspective, the units have not been modified in any way and it appears to happen to random units and there does not appear to be any pattern to this.

We are wondering if this issue has been reported in the past and if anyone knows of any reasons for this file to either suddenly not work anymore or disappear of a device please.

Due to this file not bieng on the unit, it is not possible for us to remote control onto the units so we cannot fix the issue unless the unit is sent back to us for repair.  The devices in question as Motorola MC75, MC75A and MC65 and also Intermec CN50.  The devices are running on both WM6.1 and WE6.5

Kind regards,

Ash

Exploring vPro

$
0
0

I have spend the past year and a half working to get vPro to function correctly here on the enterprise. vPro (if working correctly) provides your LANDesk installation with some very significant tools. The ability to turn systems on and off in order to deploy software or patch at night is very nice. The ability to remote into a system (via KVM) and run an anti-virus rescue CDROM  from your local system to the remote "victim" is a tasty little treat also. Certainly everyone can see the benefit of using vPro with LANDesk.

   HOWEVER...

Intel vPro is one of those tools which is at the mercey of a little thing I like to call "fellowship"; that is to say, while Intel has defined the various versions and what they can do the OEMs have the capacity to stray from the true form if they sell boxes which do not meet the higher requirements. One example is how all systems which have the i5 and i7 cores can be "full vPro" systems (they have Intel chipset, video and NIC) so all of the features within vPro will work on them. If a system is sold with i3 core then the OEM may not provide any more than a few "AMT" solutions. THis may not be a big thing at first glance, but vPro tends to gravitate to the old "weakest link" concept wherein you really want all vPro equipped devices to have the same level of support or it becomes increasingly difficult to figure out what is happening and how to get it working with the systems you support.

Truly, I found this trek to be like a climb up the mountain to meet the wise philosopher. For every person that I spoke to about setting this up I found 4 or 5 others which said they had already spilled enough blood trying to make this work. All any of these poor souls could say was something akin to, "If you ever make it to Nirvana, please send a bus to pick us up..."

Back to the "fellowship" point. It seems that Intel, in providing this free to OEMs is not getting the support from vendors which would propel this potentially valuable solution to the place where it needs to be. Couple that with the OEMs not communicating all that is required to LANDesk support and then working to ensure that LANDesk can function with the fewest of steps to make vPro viable... well you get the idea. It appears that since there is no money in it for anyone then the solution is waiting for some Don Quixote, or some Joebaggadonuts to volunteer to collect all of the information from the various resources about the country and make this thing work.

Well, we have it working... In test and provisionally in production. I want to further compile my findings and get a real person to translate them from 1337 speak to Geek speak to English so we in the community can compare notes. I am convinced that once the data is looked upon by others we can put a guide together which will allow newcomers and those waitin on the Nirvana bus a means to get their vPro experience working.

Of late I had the blessing to attend a class that Intel hosted locally demonstrating their SCS (Setup Configuration Software) which they use to provision and unprovision vpro devices over the LAN/WAN. This solution is well documented (especially compared to what you usually get from vPro sources) and well conceived. It was easy to setup and used very little resources. The instructor, William York, was very knowledgeable and didn't look things up rather recalled them from memory on a time when he had resolved the question for himself. All in all very impressive as an option. I am hopng to take this solution and use it to address provisioning and changes to provisioning from this solution and then use LANDesk to reap the rewards of a fully configured vPro environment. More on this later - I only have this working on the test servers at this point. If this all works out we, in the community, may be able to make the titans dance with one another.

   One can dream, I suppose.

Problem with software distribution and WOL

$

since updateing to 9.5 if I schedule a software distribution and check WOL in the target item my tasks hangs on active.

Three things I have tryed that hung.

1. 309 computers chosen using PUSH Multicast Download from source with Wol checked in delivery method also checked WOL in target section of scheduled task.  Under the Active the Result says either machine discovered successfully or Can't find agent. All computers stayed active for 24 hours till I canceled the task and it took another 6 hours before task cancelled. The scheduled task log file only had some gibberish for a few minutes after staerting and nothing after.

2. Took 15 computers using PUSH Dowload from source with no Multicast or Wol checked in Delivery. I checked the WOL in the target section of the scheduled task.  After 12hrs there were 7 active, 6 successfull and 2 failed. Result listed under the Active said Cannot find Agent but the task is still running. I canceled the task an hour ago and it still is running.  The scheduled task log file had about 18 minutes of gibberish from the start and nothing after.

3. I woke up 10 computers manually ran the same package using Push Download from Source. Did not check WOL in target section. Task ran and completed in 10 minutes.

The tasks were run from the console on the core.

Is there a issue with WOL in 9.5?

Query on Noticeboard Item

I have several noticeboard items. For example, I have one for "Service Disruption", "Scheduled Maintenance", and "No Notices". On my self service logon screen (v.7.5) I have a gadget to show ITNS Notices and I have a query that shows all the noticeboard items that have not expired. What I would like to do is only show the noticeboard item messages for "No Notices" whenever there are no other noticeboard items (i.e. "Service Disruption" and "Scheduled Maintenance"). I have not been able to figure a way to filter the results. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Attached is a sreenshot of my filter.
