Supported EM version for Upgrade

We are currently on EM version 8.4.309 and will need to upgrade to 8.6 as per the supported Upgrade path before finally moving to 10 (latest ver

 

As per the Advanced Upgrade the Ivanti tested Upgrade platform for EM 8.4.309 is EM 8.6.406.0, however the latest for 8.6.313.0 Major Release is SP3 (8.6.445.0).

Is SP3 (8.6.445.0) a supported Upgrade version/Path for EM 8.4.309?

Windows 10 1809: Site Determination funktioniert nicht

Hallo zusammen

 

Ich bin dran, Windows 10 1809 in unsere DSM Umgebung (2018.1) zu implementieren.

In einem ersten Schritt habe ich zum Test ein neues OS Set erstellt, identisch zu unserem produktiven 1709 Paket, einfach mit den 1809 Sourcen.

 

Die Installation des OS funktioniert soweit auch problemlos, ebenfalls wird der DSM Agent auch korrekt installiert.

Wo es dann scheitert ist bei der Site determination, ich blicke einfach nicht durch, was genau schief läuft.

 

1. cmsextSvc_0000000001.log wird erstellt, die korrekte Site und Server wird erkannt.

2. Ca. 10 Sekunden später wird ein neues File cmsextSvc_0000000002.log erstellt, darin steht als IP dann aber 0.0.0.0, deswegen fällt der Client in die Offline-Site.

Wenn ich das aber kontrolliere, hat die Client definitiv eine gültige IP.

Selbst wenn der Client kurzzeitig die IP verliert, müsste die Site Determination ja erneut durchlaufen, sobald der Client wieder eine IP erhält.

 

Ich habe auch schon versucht das Treiber Paket der Netzwerkkarte zu aktualisieren, hat aber nicht geholfen.
Das Problem tritt auch auf einem anderen Modell auf.


Hat jemand ein ähnliches Problem oder kann mir sagen wo ich nach der Ursasche suchen soll? (Logfiles auf dem Client oder ggf. auch Server)

Full-Text Search Field - Filter

Dear all,

 

i am looking for a way to filter our "Full-Text" Search Field "Summary" in the incident creation form.  If i type in any text I do not see all fields which are in Full-Text Index. But i want to see all fields in a drop down format to select one if the incident is raised previously.

 

Basically, I need "Type Ahead Search" in the summary field of incident form...

 

Please let me know if it is possible to do so for the same.

Hi,

 

I have recently started managing many Ivanti EPM servers globally across many countries including places like UK, Brazil, Australia, UAE, India, South Africa and USA. I have just finished upgrading all servers to Ivanti EPM 2018.3 so they are all on the same software version. The servers are all configured different with different settings and strategies around security patching, software distribution, OS Provisioning, reporting/alerting, etc. Each country and office has it's own Ivanti EPM instance which do not currently communicate with each other.

 

I am looking to centralise, standardise and simplify everything. I am looking for advise on the best strategy of how to do this. I am currently researching into this to find all the options and then weigh up the options. In the UK I have a distribution point setup locally at one site as a test to see how this works but I am not sure this would be the best option globally when the Core server is in the UK as I imagine the replication would be slow. The other option is to have a rollup core which I don't know much about as yet but I am looking into. As far as I am aware a rollup core communicates with many different instances of Ivanti EPM and stores information from them all based on whatever criteria you set, this might be a better option as at least I could hopefully see what is happening on the servers from a central point. What I was really hoping for though is that I could have an Ivanti EPM core server in each site and they could do some sort of Core Synchronisation back to the Master Core server in the UK similar to a Master and a slave server. I would then make it so each onsite IT contact can only do things relating to clients in their office and things like security patching are completely standardised and the same across countries with exceptions where needed.

 

Does anyone know if this is possible from a technical point of view or have any ideas of how managing multiple countries can be made easy? I don't know if I am on the right track with the right line of thought or if there are other ways of doing what I want? I know there are other factors to consider like office politics and local laws of what information/data you can retain etc but that is less of an issue right now.

 

Any help is much appreciated and thank you in advance.

Enhanced Encryption to „Run AS“ - Proper way to implement it?

So in EM 2018.3 a new feature was released... Enhanced Encryption to „Run AS“ and „connect As“ functionality.

 

If anyone of you already implemented it. Would you please share your wisdom with me?

Is there anyway to make a "clean" implementation without converting .pfx files to .b64 files and storing all the necessary information in a textfile?

Function Keys in VT220 on a Honeywell Android CK75

Hello,

 

We sold a Honeywell CK75 with Android and a Velocity License.

The connection with the Telnets erver works fine, but.....

The Function Keys do not work.

Our customer uses almost al Function Keys in their WMS software.

That always worked fine in the past with LXE Tecton and RFTerm.

 

Any idea how we can solve this on the CK75 with Velocity?


How do I perform a text search against an existing saved search?

I have a few saved searches that I use all the time, however, from time-to-time, I want to filter my saved searches down a little bit more, without having to change the saved search.

 

Thus, is there a way to perform a text search[1] against the results of an existing saved search?

[1] - I'd like to be able to search the summary and symptom fields, and even the resolution field (essentially I like using the existing search capabilities... I just want to apply the search to just the results of an existing saved search)

I have built a customized Change Approval Workflow. When the Change is approved/denied the workflow fails with:

Delete duplicate guid of AD user

If an AD user is deleted and another user account is created with the same username, they then use Ivanti EM and we are seeing 'domain\username (2)' in the personalization analysis. How can we remove the original reference and/or fix the new? We have tried to reduce the amount of time in advanced that removes the inactiveProfileExpiryDays to remove the old profile data (works fine) but not the record of the original user.

Inventory scan failed :ldiscn32: the inventory server "XXX" did not respond

Recently  we are facing issue with inventory scans not working on most of new client machines. We are able to successfully push the Landesk inventory agent  to a new PC. It seems to install fine but the PC is still sitting in Pending Unmanaged Client Deployment. It fails when sending scan results to the core server. When I tried to run a inventory scan manually ,it fails and displays the below error.

 

 

 

Inventory Services seem to be up and running within the PC and core server.
I can telnet from the PC to the core with ports 5007.
Windows firewall is disabled.

 

 

Appreciate your timely help and support on this

 


Next, I havent configured anything under cloud services appliances,does it have anything do with this inventory scan fail?

 

VelocityCE network problem

We are using Velocity CE to connect to SAP Webdispatcher from our WiFi barcode scanners.

After loosing the network connection VelocityCE shows some kind of HTML error page. In many cases this page is not disappearing even if the device is rebootet. VelocityCE seems like frozen but it is possible to enter the menu. Also refreshing or clicking "Home" the page will show again the error message. Entering the menu and pressing "Disconnect  session..." is loading the SAP logon again.

 

Is there any way to go on with working after "Network out of range" like it was with TelnetCE? TelnetCE (VT220 and Industrial Browser) was able to reconnect with the session and the users could go on with working without problem.

Incident status incorrect in Self Service

One of our users has the below incident showing in their self service active incidents as logged, however it is resolved.

 

Not sure how this is doing it.

2017 Provisioning GUI will not load

I have two devices that work with our 2016 core but one does not work with the new 2017 core. With the computer shown to the right, it states that  X:\ldprovision\ldprovision_x64.exe is not compatible with the Windows you're running.

 

Any thoughts?

domain suffix and Personalization

We may have a need to change several of our users domain Suffixes to align them for Office 365.

 

When we change a user's domain suffix it has the effect of being treated as a new user by personalization.

 

Is there any way around this?

Device Status not showing correctly

Hi all,

 

We have a problem with communication between our Ivanti Core Server and our devices. While I have been troubleshooting this issue I can't seem to make any logic of this issue and it is most likely one for support but any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated. The best thing would be if we can't fix it would be to get as much information for support as possible such as logs.

 

So the problem is that our Ivanti EPM Core server has 800+ devices. A large portion of these devices display incorrect device status and it will display nothing or display devices as being offline when they aren't. I also have a problem where devices online will not pickup anything in a scheduled task for example a new agent package or software, instead they will sit in pending or failed and give a result like "Policy has been made available" or  "Unable to contact the specified machine. The machine may be off or unreachable".

 

The devices having this issue don't seem to fit any logic and so all logical reasons for this happening seem to have gone out the window at the moment, I can't find a pattern or a trend.

 

Machines are appearing offline but are still pingable from the core server and from other devices.

All machines or at least the ones in the console (being managed that I am aware of) I can see are doing a daily inventory and vulnerability scans so they must be communicating with the core.

I cannot telnet on the LANDesk ports to some machines that are pingable but can to others. (Ports: 9595, 9535, etc). About Ports used by Ivanti Endpoint Manager ( EPM ) / LANDESK Management Suite ( LDMS ) - full list

I have also done tests by pinging a device and tried to browse to "http://ClientIP:9595/allowed/ldping" and "http://ClientName:9595/allowed/ldping" and got inconsistent results where some devices have been successful and others not successful as per Device statuses (offline / online) are not displayed correctly on the core server or are not displayed at all - Basic Troubleshooting guide for the LDMS 9.5 Console

Wondering what to do if I can ping a device from the core and others devices but can't telnet using 9595 and can't browse successfully to "http://ClientName:9595/allowed/ldping" or  "http://ClientIP:9595/allowed/ldping".

Also to factor out network issues, some of the machines with the issues are on the same subnet, vlan, IP range and physical site. Some of the devices are on desks next to each other.

The machines having issues are a mixture of Windows 7 and Windows 10 and are in the same OU in AD and get the same Group policy settings.

 

The only thing I can put this down to is some local settings manually changed and tampered with for example Windows firewall turned on and blocking something like LANDesk inbound services but I don't think this would be the case and will confirm.

 

Is there any specific log files I should be looking at which might be of some help with this issue. I am aware all the logs I probably need are in C:\Program Files\LANDesk\ManagementSuite\log and C:\ProgramData\LANDesk\Log but am not sure what I am looking for.

 

I will continue troubleshooting and if I have any new ideas or get any further I will update this discussion.

Linux Patches

I have several Oracle systems running on Linux. Those systems are patched manually just so they can be monitored to see if any of the patches break anything.

 

My dilemma here is does Ivanti provide or can provide a more detailed template or list of which patch changes certain executables?

 

Our problem is simply running 400+ patches and then having our executable updated\changed and breaking the system. It is hard to narrow down which update does that. Thanks!

PXE Configuration in a Mixed UEFI/Legacy Environment

Over the last year or so I've been trying to resolve the issue of supporting PXE Boot clients with a mix of UEFI and Legacy BIOS devices. I believe that I have resolved my issues. I currently have this implemented and it works very well. I have documented the solution and have submitted it here. I have tested this solutions on 9.5 SP3 through 2016. Feel free to critique, correct, or provide your own input.

Getting Started with Relay Servers Guide - Where is the current guide?

Is there an updated "Getting Started with Relay Servers" guide?  Ivanti documentation says check the Getting Started Guide for the prerequisites but the guide posted is for 10.1.x.  Prerequisites such as .NET 4.7 aren't listed in that document. Similarly, information surrounding encrypted communication. Where is the updated information about Relay Server 10.3 Getting Started stored?  Thank you.
