Landesk Managment Console wont open after McAfee install

$

A few days ago, I had a brain fart and uninstalled the AV client on our LANDesk server. When the AV client was reinstalled, Landesk started acting wonky and after a reboot, the Managment Suite wont open. You can see it in the task manager for a second before it disappears. Any help would be great.

This is from the consol.exe.log file:

Service Catalouge for analysts

I have an issue where all of the analysts should click on the Service Request button of the service to get into the service form or otherwise (if analyst clicks on the empty space of the service) it will take him/her to the Configuration Item.

Below window appears to the analyst if he/she clicks on the empty space rater than clicking on the service request button

Kindly tell me if there is any solution to this issue.

Should I change the configuration for the analysts so they don't use the self service and instead they use the web-access to do their work? or is there a way or work around to configure the self service in a way that the analyst can not access the configuration item?

Is there a way to reflect corporate bought licenses (unlimited installs) so that SLM doesn't show that the software is unlicensed?  I tried messing with the compliance type in the License Details (choosing "volume" and "enterprise"), but it didn't seem to change anything.

servers targeted with ldap query

Is there any way to prevent servers from getting targeted in scheduled tasks via a ldap query?  Cant find anything on this and it's becoming an issue.  Software is getting deployed to servers because we have users targeted and they are logging in on servers. ie/ computer support staff and this also affects citrix servers.

Any advice?  currently LANDesk version 2016 sp3

Analysts unable to see category selections on window.

I have a few incident categories created i.e. Category, Companycategory1, Companycategory2.. each with their own window for incidents.

However when an end user with cat1/cat2 raises an incident, the window (ANALYST WINDOW) does not show the category selected by this user and appears blank.

I realise that this stems from the attribute Category being on this window and not the attributes Companycatergory1/2, etc. How can I show the category that is chosen on this one ANLYST Window without complicating things by creating more ANLYSt windows for each of these other categories just to put these attributes on there?

Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Kind regards,

AJ.

Remove LDMS actions from LDSD CI window

We are not using LDMS at all. Anyhow, LDMS actions are displayed in the Laptop windows:

This is not the case for the rest of CIs like laptops of printers. A completely new and simple Window won't take these actions away.

Where can we disable these actions?

Incident description over written by previously open incident with description field maximized

$

Incident description is being over written by previous open incident when the description field is maximised and second incident is opened from the HOME dashboard query item group.

Scenario:

  • We have two incidents 13760 and 13761
  • Open 13760
  • Maximize the description field
  • Close without minimizing the description field
  • Open 13761 from the home page dashboard query item
  • The Incident tab shows incident 13761 is now open but the description field is maximized with the 13760 description
  • Close the description field
  • The incident 13761 then have the incident 13760 description
  • Close the incident
  • Prompts to save, if save the incident description 13761 is saved with the 13760 description

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open Incident under Incident workspace tab

2. Click to maximize description field

3. Leave description field maximized and close the incident workspace tab.  Note the incident #13760

4.  Open another incident from the HOME tab My Active Incidents Dashboard Item

     Incident description for 13761 is

5. The new incident number 13761 is opened however the previous description field is still open

6. Close the description window.  The previous incident 13760 description information now appears in the description field

7. Close incident - it prompts you to save your changes.  If you click YES then this incident 13761 is saved with the previous incident 13760 description.

Modeled Data showing zero

$

I have a custom data registry key that I am successfully pulling in from our Windows devices. The registry key is a string value which contains only integers from -3 to 300. By default the unmodeled data is being captured as an NVARCHAR. This is causing issues when trying to create reports and queries that use the greater than\less than logic.

I attempted to model the data and change the data type to INT. I left every thing else as default and added the data to a new table name. Upon completion, the table in the database and all the inventory data showed all values as 0. Essentially wiping out all of my captured data. I have since used the database doctor to clear out the attribute setting it back to unmodeled data. New scans are starting to repopulate the data as expected, but I am still left with the problem and need to get this set as an INT datatype.

Discover virtual host

I'm currently using 2017.1 version, I have tried to scan my VM host via Unmanaged device discovery -> Discover virtual host and the device is not detected. After I switched to Standard scan, the device is detected but the result is in Others and when I right click on the device, Move to inventory database option is grayed out. I have added VM host admin access in Services -> OS virtualization. How to resolve this?

Hi All,

We are currently on 2016.3 SU5 the agent on some systems are from 2016.

The event log is currently being spammed with Audit Failure messages.

Should this account automatically be remove once we upgrade the device to the latest agent or why this is occurring?

Thanks

The below is message from a KB.

**In the 2016.3 SU3 and 2017.1 release, CBA_anonymous has changed and no longer creates a cba_anonymous account. We have started using local account and GPO/permissions are no longer needed. The account can be deleted and will not be added when the new agent is installed.**

Risk - Change Risk survey question

$

0

Asking some question about the Risk Survey:

- Can you have more than one risk survey?   One for higher level changes and other.

However having thought about this, I wondered if it can work like a decision tree.

  1. Is this change Prod?
  2. Is an outage expected?  --- if both no then no more questions

Else continue

So this would mean for low impact changes you answer 2 questions and for high impact

you might answer 10.  This is to give a more mature view of risk.

Risk Surveys do not seem particularly flexible in this way but I thought I'd ask if there are ways

to make them work in different ways.

thanks

Donna

Managing the rights of files in shared folder

Hi Everyone,

I need a workaround regarding managing the right of files in shared folder in a terminal server environment.

Users working in terminal server environment and downloading files (like pdf repors) from our application to specific folder (like c:\App) in terminal server.

But problem is users who connected to terminal server can see (read, write etc) each others files in that folder.

For example

UserA download report.docx

UserB download report2.docx in same folder

and can access and change each others reports.

Is that possible, dynamicly i can manage the files access righs in that folder that only owner of the user can see that files

How to Prevent Customer and Owner bar/panel from being moved or minimized in Incident form

Agent Configuration settings to detect when to use IP Address vs. FQDN?

$

So I'm having a bit of an issue with my agent configurations here; i have a variety of machines I manage, some of which are on and off network randomly, but frequently. The network that these machines are on does NOT have a DNS, so in order to communicate with the core directly, it needs to point to the IP address. However, the CSA has an issue resolving to the core server when given the IP address instead of the FQDN. Therefore, i can either have these machines work when they are ON the network, OR off the network, and seemingly not both. Any Ideas?

KAV AV scans after every reboot

$

We have a few computers which slow down immediately after rebooting because the AV client is performing a full scan. The local scheduler is showing the AV scan should occur once a week. And this is what we have configured in the AV client in the agent configuration.

Does anyone have a clue as why AV would be performing a full scan after every reboot?

We are running Ivanti 2017.3. The clients are Windows 7 SP1.

Thanks,

Jerry

Unable to Activate Request Management Offerings

I am running Service Manager 2017.2. I ran through the Application Setup and accepted defaults.  I came back to application setup at a later time and attempted to activate multiple Request Offerings but I am unable to.  I am not getting any errors that I can see.  It initially looks activated after I change to activated but once I leave the page and go back it is no longer activated.  Is there a save option I am missing?  I have tried both Activate Only and Activate and Subscribe both with same result.
