Registry Files

Whenever I try to run a registry file through a batch file, it does not seem to apply on Windows 7. I do not get any errors but the specific registry keys are not present. When I run it manually on the same PC, it works as expected.

I am using the normal way of launching it

regedit.exe /s "filename.reg"

Some one please help, this is giving me an ulcer!

Having trouble scheduling a report to be sent via email.

We have several reports based on LDMS queries that work fine and can be sent.  I created a report with LANDesk Report designer but based on a non-LDMS database and it works just fine but if I try and schedule it to be sent, it doesn't work.

Any information on why this won't work?

User Session Query lists "Any"

I wanted the ability to show who is logged onto the different Client Types (Console, Web Portal, Self Service, Web Access) when running the User Session query. I followed the advice here: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-11033  and even excluded the SA and SYSTEM accounts in the criteria. When I run the query, instead of showing the other client types in the results, it will only display "Console" and "Any". Is there a way to return the correct client types?

Pic of the results is attached.

_CurrentAssignedGroup not updating

I have created some new suppoer groups and setup some Analysts for these groups. Incidents are logged with the Analysts new group so queries show the new groups but the Incident form group field _currentAssignedGroup is blank. Strangley if I re assign the Incident to another Analysts in the same group the _currentassignedgroup displays correctly.

This is slightly confusing as the group is being set correctly during the Incident logging process as the queries show data filtered by the new group. Any ideas why _currentassigned group is showing as blank? is there another more approriate field I should be using?

"add note" notification mail failure

Hi,

I would like to inform assignee whenuser has added anote, and user when note was added by assignee.

In process (default full incident) in Add Note there are two reminders, one for assignee, second for user, booth filled as on pictrue (example for assignee).

When a note was added there is a new entry on reminder list is generated with Is Active = true, after a minute or two "Is active" goes to false.

And thats all. On "Message Recipient List" nothing isn't created, and noemail has been sent. Event logs on servers - no errors, only information from MailOutbound: Logging OnContinue with user : System Url: http://localhost/LanDesk2.Framework

But when incident is logged, message to user was sent properly.

Why note messages fails?

We have 1 Analyst who continually has thier Group Workload Query open to page 2 in WebAccess (7.4).

  • This does not occur with other queries
  • This does not occur with same Analyst in Console
  • There are dozens of other Analysts that use the same Workload that do not have this behavior
  • This is on the default dashboard (tried setting to alternate and back again with no change)
  • Can not be reproduced on other Analsyts
  • Deleted records in tps_user_preferences for this Analyst with no chane

Any ideas?

Provisioning does not support Preferred Servers?

Hi all

LDMS 9.0 SP3

We use PXE with OSD to image bare metal machines then call ldProvision.exe at the end of the RunOnce script to select the Provisioning template that installs the 13 standards apps. This works great except it's extremely slow at remote sites because Preferred Servers are not being used (as they do with SWD sdclient.exe deployments).

Is it possible to use Preferred Servers with Provisioning in LDMS 9.0 SP3 or do we have to create a Provisioning template for each site (17!!) or upgrade to LDMS 9.5?

Thanks

Scott

Provisioning: "Distribute Software" action not installing apps

Hi all

LDMS 9.0 SP3 with LANDesk Software 9.0 - BASE

We created a Provisioning template to just deploy our standard apps post build.

We scheduled this template which targets an LDAP groups

This allows our support teams, who have no access to the LANDesk 32-bit console, to add machines to this LDAP group to install the standard apps. All looks good on the client, however, it finishes far too quickly so it’s no surprise no apps are installed despite the template reporting “Success”.  I have attached the C:\Windows\Temp\ldProvision.log to help troubleshooting but I see nothing useful.

Any ideas where this is going wrong? How best can we install our standard apps using Provisioning templates without having to re-design our build process from the ground-up (OSD etc) please?

Thanks
Scott

Best Method to update Software Packages used in Templates

Hello LDMS Gurus,

I was wondering if anyone had a better method to update Packages used in Provisioning templates.  We are using LDMS 9.0_SP3, have over 25 templates used in different regions that include about 20 software packages.

Currently we update the package and then update all 25 templates manually.  I find the current process to be cumbersome, and the number of packages could increase in the future.  Does anyone have a better method to update the packages that are included in our Provisioning Templates?

Thanks in advance for the tips!

Landesk 9.5 Remote Control Multi-monitor

Under 9.0sp3 we had the ability to switch between monitors when using Remote control.  All, 1 or 2.  Under 9.5 we've lost that functionality and I can't seem to locate in our books, or on here where to turn it back on.

Are Surface & Office 365 supported by Mobility 9.0.4 ?

$

Hi everyone,

I've just been thrown into the Mobility ring with no prior knowledge of it and have some questions whether we can even get the ball rolling.  We recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Office 365 and all users now authenticate to the cloud via their full email address opposed to domain\username ... We do still have just a handful of mailboxes (not users) which are tied to Exchange, so it still exists but it's not used for user mailboxes.

We've purchased 100 mobile licenses already but haven't setup MDM and would like to begin by managing MS Surface devices then move on to iPads then iPhones then Android devices.  As it's not mentioned in any documentation I've seen,

1) Are Surface tabs supported by LDMO?

2) Is Office 365 supported by LDMO?

LDMS 9.5

LDMO 9.0.4

This unanswered question from 2011 is all I could locate regarding MDM support for Office 365....but it's not conclusive especially since it's 2 years old.

Thank you for any discussion!

Anyone using LDMS9.5 to deploy Windows 8 Yet?

$

we are already being pressured by "layer 8" folks to start deploying Windows 8.  We've started getting some of the new Dell hybrid ultrabooks that convert into tablets.  They ship with Windows 8 on them, but our current stanadard image is Windows 7.  Of course 7 isn't nearly as "tablet" friendly as 8.

Our initial tests show that the new x64 winpe doesn't seem to have the necessary pieces to use DISM and we can't figure out how to capture and deploy a Windows 8 image that we can use with LANDesk.

Linking Users to CI's for the first time in Web Desk

Has anyone found a way to link new CI's to users outside of the admin console. We are trying to move away from using console but also trying to implement configuration management. You can only link newly created CI's with users via the admin console which is not available in Web desk. We have many analysts located all over the world who need to be able to update CI info and link users. We thouht we had a solution where by I created a query based on User config item and then had a hyper link that takes you to the CI itself. This is great for CI's that already have users attached but the query and we can use it for reassigning/swapping CI's between users but it does not show CI's witout users linked to them. There is no point moving to Web Desk If we have to keep console open for all analysts just for this one function.

Thanks

John

Java (JRE/JDK) 6 "upgrade" to 7

Does LANDesk have any plans to release the auto-upgrade patch & definition from v6 to v7 of Java? It would be nice to get that to run natively in LANDesk Patch Manager. Right now, we are prepping a script to uninstall v6 on all systems with software deployment, but I'd love to be able to use a LANDesk-provided patch to do it instead.

Choosing download source for patches

Hi all,

We use Landesk 9.5, which manages clients over a few countries from a single core

For the clients in the same country as the core, virus definitions are downloaded from the core itself.  For clients in different countries, virus definitions are downloaded directly from the internet.  (via Landesk AV settings > Scheduled Task > Update)

I can't find a similar setting Patching, is there a way to achieve this?

thanks :-)

Issue with Win7 provisioning on new machine

$

I am having an issue with my provisioning template and hope that someone can help me with some suggestions on how to track down the problem. A little information that may be necessary:

I am using LDMS 9.0 SP3.

I capture the Win7 image from a completely clean machine (exact same model as the machine being provisioned) and then I ran SYSPREP in audit mode with Generalize unchecked.

I am using HII during provisioning

Since its been some time since I built the template, I cannot recall exactly which directions were used, but I used a sample from the community and made minor changes to match our requirements.

The template I used begins with removing the partitions from the drive and then builds new ones and lays down the image.

Now for the issue - If I take a brand new machine (these machine do not have windows on them to begin with, but rather a very light linux build made by the manufacturer) and I set it up using the mac address and apply it to my provisioning task, the machine will go through all the steps right up to CTOS and thats where things go bad. If I check the machine, it sits at the initial Windows screen asking me to complete the computer setup (basically, the mini-setup it mentions in this article: http://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-6948). So it seems like it doesnt have (or doesnt use) the unattend file. Initial thoughts would be there is something wrong with the unattend file or the template itself, but here is where things get strange:

I can turn off the machine, go into the LDMS console, remove the machine from the provisioning task, then add it back in again, start the task again and boot the machine and it will run through the whole provisioning process without any issue. That leads me to believe it is not the unattend file or something with my provisioning template.

My biggest issue is that I just dont know how I can go about troubleshooting this. I realize that at this point in the provisioning process, LanDesk doesnt perform any actions, and as such there is no logging that I can find to help me narrow down where the problem is residing. The fact that the partitions on the drive are removed at the beginning makes it seem unlikely that there is something on the machines out of the box that interferes. I have a brand new machine that I have attempted provisioning on and had it fail. I turned the machine off and booted into a linux live distro so that I could see what files are on the partition without manually completing mini-setup and found that there is no c:\ldprovisioning directory on the drive. So, it would seem that the ldprovisioning directory is not being copied during WinPE. Of course, that is assuming I understand the process correctly.

Any tips or experience anyone has had that might shed some light on my issue?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Domain Join to specific OU

Hello guys,

is it possible to join domain to a specific OU during provisioning ?

I have tried to configurate this part in my unattend.xml, but it doesn't work, i don't know why.

How do you handle this ?

Here is my unattend.xml

I want to replace the LANDesk logo with the three arrows on the left hand side.... I have tried to locate the gif \ bmp \ html file that this may use and to no avail..

Does anyone know where this graphic will be stored so i can 'replace it' with an image the same size..

WEB Emulation File Download Issue

$

I'm looking to configure WEB emulation in Wavelink TE on a batch of Motorola MC3190s but am getting unusual results when trying to navigate to any web page. Upon connecting it is returning a File Download dialogue box asking whether I want to run the program from its location or save it to disk. If I press ok on either option I get an error message saying there is no application associated with the file.

I've tried this both on my destination website and also a couple of test websites (Google, BBC) but always get the same result, it tries to download a file with the same name as the website.

Any ideas? I can't see anything obvious in the emulation parameters.
