Telnet emulator 7.3 - session block

Hello,

 

Our warehouse logistics are handled through an internal ERP application ensuring a proper flow of the reception and distribution of auto parts.

For this purpose we use around 110 mobile terminals with barcode scanners (RF Guns) of which 50 are deployed in the central warehouse.

The models used are:

Motorola MC2100

Datalogic Falcon X3

Datalogic Skorpio

 

In the central warehouse we are currently using 50 Motorola MC2100 scanners with Windows CE 6.0 operating system. As an emulator we are using Wavelink Corporation’s Telnet version 7.3.63 for Motorola MC2100 terminals.

Lately, the following problem began to manifest itself:

On a daily basis every Motorola MC2100 device suffers one or more unexplainable telnet session blocks.

When this happens, the terminal cannot interact with the application any more, the keyboard stops working and after a few minutes the display shows the "disconnected session" message. The terminal’s log doesn’t record any loss of connection to the access point.

The Access Points are all newly acquired from Motorola in order to ensure maximum compatibility between them and the mobile terminals.

 

Our question is:

To what extent the Telnet emulator may influence these session blocks, taking into account the following:

 

1. Telnet version

2. Certain parameters of the telnet configuration

3. “Avalanche Enable” configuration – we are using the Avalanche platform version 5.3.0.572 to manage our terminals

4. Having a large number of sessions (high load) on an Access Point.

 

Can you please help us with any idea in tackling this problem? Is there a log monitoring tool that can help us to identify the cause of these problems?

The situation is very critical and this seriously influences the process of delivery and reception of goods.

Landesk Service Desk V7.4 Virus Exclusion List

Hi

 

We've changed our anti virus software and the LDSD servers seem to be running slower and occasionally crashing.  We are running an old version of service desk which is 7.4.0.2466.

 

Does anyone know what anti virus exclusions we may need to add?

IIS reset not working

This is more of a FYI for other people than a request for help - i think i know the issue now. just have to convince our Server guys.

 

We have our web server on windows2008R2.  A couple of days ago the nightly IIS reset stopped restarting correctly , leaving a repeating error in the event log:

"A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WAS service."

Which stops Ivanti servicedesk working until the server is rebooted.

 

A bit of googling suggests a windows update might be responsible from July patches - KB43388xx , where xx is your OS . KB4338818 in our case .

It seems to be related to certificates as well - the problem dosent occur on our test server , or our application server , which also have the update, but which dont have certs on.

The problem started the same time these KBs were installed.

How To Filter Web Service Search With Less () than

Does anyone know how to perform internal web service search where a target field value is less than or greater than a desired value?

 

The following is well documented:

 

var AllPastDue = Search('Loans#',{

Status: 'Paid'});

 

This works when you need values equal to a desired value, but how do you handle cases where the needed results have to be greater than or less than.

 

E.G:

 

var AllPastDue = Search('Loans#',{

Amount: 10000});

 

Or where field value is null. E.G:

var AllPastDue = Search('Loans#',{

!ChargeBack});

Access is denied when mounting a disk image - Windows 10

Hello!

 

I believe we are having an issue when mounting an ISO in Windows 10 caused by device control.

When I download an ISO, right click and select Mount, I am getting access is denied issues.

I've added the Virtual DVD/CD Rom device to Approved Devices, however I suspect that is another area that it needs to be added that I've been unable to discover.

Rollout Projects - Met success Criteria

Hi,

 

We're an on-prem customer (recently upgraded to 2018.1 - but issue seen in 2017.3), and I'm trying to get to grips with patch deployments via rollout projects. The only issue/question I really have is that no matter how I configure the project the "Met success criteria" never gets to 80% (my minimum for the next step). Regardless of how many patches I have, or how many targets. In fact more often than not I don't get any progress.

 

I'm currently working on deploying the latest VLC patch which is working, the endpoints are updating but not reporting back to the project. The deployment task is showing accurately at 100% but there's no progress on the project.

 

Without posting my whole project and steps, is there anything obvious I should be doing? Is there anything I've missed in the documents about how the status is reported back to the project>

Mozilla FireFox ESR

Good Morning, We currently have a vulnerability for FireFox ESR 52.8.1 in our environment and to mitigate it I published ESR 60.2.0. SCCM shows the machines as compliant with a successful install of the update. However after a Tenable scan and a check of the machine the vulnerable version is still installed. I launched FF and was going to let it update itself but it said that 52.8.1 was the up to date version. Has anyone seen this or know what might be causing the issue? Thanks in advance for the help we have never really had an issue out of FF updates and can't seem to figure out what is causing it to not update.

Inspect not working on Windows 7 machines

We have recently installed Ivanti EPM 2017.3.  (I have not got as far as installing any SU's yest)

 

We have begun to roll out new Windows 10 PC's along side our current Windows 7 PC's and all devices have now had a new agent built from the new EPM 2017.3 server installed.

 

Pretty much everything seems to be working fine but if we right clikc a Windows 7 device in the console and select Inspect the window states that real time moitoring is not enabled.  I can see in the agent though that it is.

 

This is the same agent on the Windows 10 PC's and Inspect works fine on those.

 

Inspect worked on the Windows 7 PC's before we upgraded to 2017.3 from 2016.3 so I am unsure why this would stop working now.

 

The only thing that has changed is the new server and the new agnet on all the PC's.

 

Anyone any thoughts why itwould pick on Windows 7 PC's?


Calculate the time an incident was open for

We are currently configuring ITSM and in the Incident module we have 2 rules to set 'First Call Resolution' as true if an incident goes from 'logged' directly to 'resolved' or 'closed'. However we have always historically also calculated a first call fix as any incident being closed within 30 minutes of it being opened, so I also want to calculate how long an incident was open for and, if that time is 30 minutes or less, set 'First Call Resolution' as true.

 

Could I use 'DiffMinutes' to calculate the difference between 'createddatetime' and 'resolveddatetime' and have that populate a field and then set a rule to populate 'FirstCallResolution' as 'true' if it were less than 30 minutes?

 

Or am I barking up the wrong tree and is there a better, or existing, way to do this? (We currently/used to calculate this by extracting all closed tickets for the month and use an Excel formula to work out the time difference and then capture all of those less than 30 minutes, so I guess I could always do it by post-processing a closed incident report?)

Request Offering Save Before Submit

I'm looking at creating a new process.  I'm thinking I'll have a Request Offering form that may need to be filled in by a couple of different persons - at different times in the process.  I'd like to have one form that keeps all information, but may need to have different persons fill it in.  I know I can submit a RO and edit it using the Service Request/Parameters/Edit tab, but I don't want to have a non-technical user use this interface.  Rather, I'd like to have the process email the person, that needs to fill in additional information, a link to the RO form and have them use that interface to add the info.  Is this possible?

ldapm -U switch and installation timing issue

I'm working on a new workflow to DEP macs, utilize an AirWatch bootstrap package that will install LANDesk and then call a specific task to finalize the base configuration of a Mac.

 

I'm running into a timing problem with existing tasks kick off as soon as the installer calls ldapm -U.  I think it is due to the device getting populated just before the queries are updated on the server (we set it to every 15 minutes) and the device is added to the jobs that are kicked off when the installer runs ldapm.  I can put a while statement looking for the  completeldapminstall.xml and delete it but that scheduled task runs fairly quickly and could put me into an endless loop (if I don't break out after a certain amount of time).  Also, my current script waits for all complete* scheduled tasks in the scheduler folder to run before I unload ldscheduler to install some homebrew formulas to inject the device in the package bundle scheduled task that configures the Mac.

 

Questions

What does the -U switch do?

Is there anyway to force the installer not to run a policy scan during installation?

Is there any harm in unloading ldscheduler before the 5 complete scheduled tasks run?  The complete tasks wouldn't run until after a reboot as the package bundle is set to reboot after complete.

Ivanti2017-3_SU5 detected number not going down despite successful patching

had an earlier issue with one of the downloads for this not downloading, downloaded it manually fixed that, but now, even though a vast majority of the installs show as successful and I have done reboots and rescans, the affected machines still show as detected even though they were patched.

 

just looking at the history, the reason for those machines is "the client file rainstall.exe is below the minimum version"

How can I set a Category "FullName" with a string via a calculation?

I'm looking to set the Category.FullName with a text string via a calculation, as I'm getting the equivalent of the FullName from another source.

     CAT = Request._DOC5600Category

     Value = ????????

     return Value

 

CAT is a string.

Value calculation using CAT is what I'm looking for.

 

The GetNamedObject will return the Named attribute, but I need the FullName.

Triggered Action (That includes Check Box)

I have a form that has a check box and multiple text boxes.  I want to create a Triggered Action to send an email if the check box is selected and one of the text boxes is not blank.  I am not sure how to write the Triggered Action to run when the check box is selected.  Would the check box be listed next to Field:, and the radio button next to "is changed" is selected, or would I have to create a Conditional Expression?  If I need to create a conditional expression, how would I write it.

Internal tasks vs external tasks for MSP support teams

A general question : in an MSP ServiceDesk setup, is the MSP teams seen as internal OR external teams? The discussion  at my Company arose when deciding where to put us, the MSP teams which are supporting the customers vs true External Vendors teams. (Underpinning Contracts vs OLA setup). Your thoughts or input is appreciated

Hi Leute,

 

wir haben das Problem das nach einem Windows 10 Upgrade (egal von 1607 auf 1703 oder 1803) der DSM Agent nicht kommuniziert. Startet man den PC nochmal neu, kommuniziert der Agent einwandfrei. Das Verhalten ist ziemlich ärgerlich weil ich so nicht mehr in der Lage bin das System im Anschluss herunterzufahren oder andere Tasks nach dem Upgrade ausführen kann.

 

Ich hatte das auch schon als Ticket eingetütet, aber da gibt es bisher kein Fortschritt und ist auch wieder in der 2018.1 vorhanden. Habt Ihr das Problem auch und vielleicht einen Workaround gefunden?

Start Skype for Business on logon

Dear

 

I'm trying to make Skype for Business 2016 start (and login) on the user's logon.

 

I've created a User Setting in which the following reg value is added:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

"Lync"="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Office\\root\\Office16\\lync.exe\" /fromrunkey"

 

When I logon to the machine Skype does not start. However the user setting is applied.

 

In the registry the "Run" key I added through the User Registry is renamed to "Run.org" (by RES One I guess).

Any idea how to bypass this and start programs on user logon?

 

Using RES ONE Workspace 9.10.2.1 SR2 Bronze on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Citrix XenDesktop 7.15).
