Machine Mapping with USMT profile restore?

I've been searching, but haven't been able to answer this question: can Machine Mapping be used to restore a profile with USMT on a new computer?  (We are on 9.6 SP2)

 

I've played around a bit with the SMA profile restoration and can restore a profile on a new computer using the Machine Mapping.  The negative of SMA is that it is no longer supported by Lenovo and the latest documentation they have is from 2009.  I would rather use an utility that is current and supported.

 

I have created a template that captures the profile off to a network share and then kicks off another template to load the OS and licensed software with the Machine Mapping tool.  This process works really well and I would like to be able to add the profile restore action to the kicked off template.  When specifying the store to capture the profile to in the capture template, I use the %ldhostname% variable for the store path:  \\server\share\profiles\%ldhostname% .  The launched template with the profile restore action will have a different name and thus the %ldhostname% will be different than the source computer. 

 

To back up a bit, I create a Bare Metal Server for the new computer (COMPUTER2) and map COMPUTER1 to COMPUTER2 in machine mapping.  We prefer to have a unique name for the second machine, but we would need to keep one machine name through this process, we may consider going that route.

 

Has anyone done this and if so, how did you do it?

Outlook sync taking over 5 minutes!

My wife and I are both using GM 2018.2 with clean installs on Windows 10 64 bit and hardwired to our network; Office 365 is the 32 bit version. My sync time with Outlook is always about 50 seconds yet hers is consistently about 5 minutes. A side effect (I think) of the sync taking so long is that during sync, if she is writing an email (in Outlook, we don't use GM for email), the system (Outlook in particular) seems to hang sporadically, so as she's typing, many times nothing is happening and then suddenly it appears. Also, for several moments you can't click on anything. I'm wondering if there is a bunch of sync "junk" that needs to be cleared out somewhere? Also, I remember that someone at Microsoft had said to clear some files on a monthly bases, but right now I can't find the articles that was sent. I have cleared out her Temp folder and that hasn't made a difference.

Other details:

Her deleted items are about 300, mine are over 1400, so don't think that's the cause of anything being slowed down

For .pst files, she is at 2.82GB and I am about half at 1.45GB

For .ost both or ours are less than 2MB

Is there a way to determine what a Join block is waiting for?

I have a complex workflow behind a request offering that is getting stuck on a Join block. I am trying to work out exactly which part of the workflow is causing this issue as all the expected tasks have completed (i.e. viewing the workflow instance doesn't show anything highlighted in yellow). Is there any way to determine exactly what a Join block is waiting on? I have tried deleting the Join block and recreating it, then reattaching all inputs to it but this does not seem to have worked.

 

I don't really want to have to recreate all the If and Task blocks if I can help it as there are quite a few and they have a bit of detail to them. Also, given this is a request offering, I can't easily export the workflow either.

 

Also, while I am at it, there is another part of the workflow where if any particular task fail I want to send an email. The workflow validator is telling me that I need a join before the Notification block, but if I put a Join there, it will expect all the tasks to fail before sending the email. How do I work around this?

EM 10.1 FR4 - Manage VHD - Fails to Mount

We are trying to utilize the mount VHD & Roam VHD from this article: Cache Roaming for Virtual Sessions.

 

When I log in, I don't actually see that VHD mounted.  I see it get created on the share, but it is never mounted.

 

After reviewing Application logs, I see an event for the failure:

 

"Create and attach to VHD: \\path\*.vhd Action failed RunAs Current User Error Code 1627 Error Text: Function failed during execution."

 

Can someone provide the commands running so I can test just running those commands?  I didn't see a runAs tab for setting it to run as SYSTEM on this action in the configuration so my only choice is to let it run as the user.

Change license platform

Hello,

 

I have a new license for TelnetCE 7.3 IBMHOST.

I'm having issues authorizing our new systems. It would accept the license when I manually input it but a window will appear asking for a license.

 

I think what's happening is that this license is for IBMHOST platform and we are using VT220 platform.

Update Parent with change of Status in Child

Hi,

 

Can anyone advise me on how to update parent with the change of status on the child object?

 

For example, if the

1) Task status = Active, then Incidentstatus = Active,

2) Task status = Resolved, then Incidentstatus = Pending on Veriification,

3) Task status = Cancel, then Incidentstatus = Active

 

*Task = child object, Incident = parent object                            

ISM - Service Requests - Waiting for customer

Hi, we're an on prem customer with a weird issue in Service Requests.

 

On random requests (as far as I can work out) users are receiving the "waiting for more info reminder" when the request isn't and has never been in that status.

 

I've checked escalation schedules and none of the service request ones use that quick action in error.

 

Any suggestions on what I can check to see what kick the action off?

Issue locating unmanaged devices

I am trying to locate unmanaged devices so I can push out the Ivanti Agent.

 

I am inputting the IP range and it is picking new unmanaged devices up (see below).

 

However, there is no device name and it is suggesting the OS is Linux (the devices are Windows 10 thin clients) and i cannot push out the Agent.

 

I just wondered if anyone can offer any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Image is "broken" when I try to use a validation list in a Request Offering.

The Request Offering is for new hardware, so I need to have a Title, Description and Image.  The Custom List doesn't have a Description field and is limited to 64 characters so I can't use that.  I have a "attachment_name" field in my picklist which has a value which matches a value from the Request Offering Attachment tab.  I also have the image as an attachment to the Object that holds the values for the Picklist.

When I click on Self Service it prompts me with the following error. I have 3 instances (Sandbox, Test and UAT) all are having the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Windows could not be update to 1803

Hello together,

 

we have Windows 10 Ent. 1709 installed. When I will update to 1803, the update is woking fine on a Notebook, but not on VMware they are running on our ESXi. The installation is hanging on 75 / 77%. After some hours, the setup is doing a fallback.

The Notebook and the VMware have a minimum of software installed. I mean thats a problem between Kaspersky und Application Control.

 

On an effected endpoint, I uninstall Kaspersky and I could upgrade to 1803.

But when I uninstall Application Control on the endpoint, so I could upgrade to 1803 too.

 

We have set in Kaspersky exclusions for Application Control and exclusions in Application Control for Kaspersky.

After that, we could upgrade the Notebook, but not the Virtual Machine (there was the same problem).

 

When I stop completely the functionality of Application Control and of Kaspersky, the problem remains. The only way that will work, is to uninstall one of the tool.

When I stop the Application Control Service, befor I starting the setup.exe file from the Inplace Upgrade, then I could upgrade the client.

When I remote the license from Application Control, then I could upgrade the client.

 

Have any one an idea, what we can do?

Hello,

 

I am trying to figure out to to turn HTML off when viewing ticket updates in the Service Desk portal. I am running version 10.2.0.126 release 2016.2. When opening a ticket and clicking on a reminder  the HTML code is visible. This is creating some confusion for my end users. Thanks

Template in Service Request description field not working fine.

Hi everyone,

 

Would like get some helps to fix the issue.

 

Issue: Template in Service Request description field not working fine.

 

Description:

- The template design was design in Service Request description field through template designer.

- When user raise certain Service Request item, they will also need to up the information in the field.

- Usually I will design the template in Word field then only copy and paste it into the description field in Template Designer > Service Request (Please refer to screenshot below)

Troubleshoot steps taken.

1. I change the description back to none and change to HTML again. *It didn't work*

2. I remove the description field from Service Request main window then save and put it back then save. *It didn't work*

3. I create another template and apply the template. *It didn't work*

4. I rebuild the Service Catalog. *It didn't work*

 

Current Ivanti Service Desk console version is 2018.1
