Can you make imported tasks start immediately?

I am working on some VBA code in Excel to generate targeted tasks for various packages. What I've got so far creates the packages on the fly based on a list of executable paths, and targets the computers that are to go in each task. Then the tasks simply have to be imported to LANDesk Console and run. But because in practice there are going to be 30 or so of these tasks created when my code is run, I would like to find a way to start them all up at once so that the person using my spreadsheet doesn't have to right-click each individual task and select "Start now" on each one.

 

Normally when you create a task manually and set a scheduled time that is in the past, LANDesk will start the task immediately. But if I try to put a past date in the .ldms file I am importing from, it doesn't start when I import it, I still have to right-click it and choose "Start now".

 

Is what I want just not possible? Or is there some other value I must include in the .ldms file?

Primary owner is false!

Hi,

 

We recently change our domain.

So, on the new domain, we decided to deploy LANDesk solution.

I've deployed some agents, it's work.

 

But in the owner column I have the old user, I mean the user which was in the old domain.

Same thing in the inspector "Primary owner : CN=old user DC=old domain".

 

How can I change/refresh this?

Stand alone Remote Control

Environment:

LDMS 9.5

VMware Server 2008 R2 sp1

SQL 2008 sp1

 

We have a need to allow certain users who administer application boxes, the rights to be able to remote control to the box in question, but not have access to other domain machines. Is there a way to give them the RC tool with the appropriate LD cert, that allows them this function? And perhaps without having to install the Remote Console as well.

 

I guess I would like to know, what are my options?

1) RDP

2) VNC

3) some standalone LD RC tool?

 

And i'd rather not create a seperate LD Agent with special permissions just for these boxes, if that is possible. Your input is welcomed.

Increasing the ALM Web Console session time out

Has anyone tried or been successful in increasing the ALM Web Console session timeout?

 

I have tried the process from DOC-24343, increased Process Model Idle Time-out (min) setting to 120, recycled IIS but I still seem to be logged out of the Web Console after about 15-20 minutes.

 

Any other ideas?

Patches from Apple Software Update are reported as successful but patches remain in "Missing Patches" group.

When I go to the machine the patches appear to not have been applied. The local Apple Software Update utility also shows these patches as being needed.

After a time, (minutes, hours or days) the patches are applied and the patches are no longer in the "Missing Patches" group for the client.

 

This behavior has been seen on 10.6 and 10.7 clients.

vPro not consistent/working & Intel KVM displays blank screen

We are running LANDesk 9.0 SP2 (with all current available MCPs).  I have set a strong password and enabled vPro, purchased a GoDaddy SSL cert, and placed it on the LANDesk core.

 

I haven't created a CNAME to provisionserver.fqdn yet.  Is this absolutely essential at this level?  I assumed if the clients that already have LANDesk Agents on have vPro then they will provision correctly?   For example, most machines now that are vPro capable will display Intel vPro menu options.

I just started testing vPro in our environment and I've having lots of trouble getting any sort of reliability.   What am I missing here?  Certain models appear to work (for example, Optiplex 980s) and I can use most of the vPro options, can do IDE-R directions, Power On/Off the machine.

 

I've tried testing with laptops, Latitude E6510, Latitude E6400. Both show all vPro options in LANDesk console but none of the functionality is working at all.

 

For other computers with vPro, I can see the vPro context menus in LANDesk but none of the functions work and will freeze the LANDesk console until the AMT process times out. None of the functions work with these models.

 

In one such case where I was finally making progress, I was able to get OptiPlex 980s working somewhat (vPro context menus are working) but the Intel KVM but the display comes up blank.  (Tried this directly from the core and on my remote console).   I can actually control the computer and type commands to the remote computer but the display comes up black.

The AMTProvMgr2.log is also inconsitent, some machines seem to provision fine, while others get lots of errors.

Why the core server security activities did not sync my client block activities?

To whom it may concern..

 

          My core server didn't sync with my client block activities. I didn't find any similar activity log at server at the same time. I have tried to reboot the server and client, and run vulscan at client. Then core server still can't find the block log. The attached screen shot was collected from server and client at the same time. Thanks!

           My server was installed LDSS 9.5.

Problem with Concurent License

Hi All,

 

Our coustomer using LANDesk 7.5.1 with SQ Server Database, They have 10 concurrent license and 13 fixed license (see attached).

Problem appear when they analyst(non fixed user license) log on to Application. Error capture see attached file.

 

I already checked session in "query user session". there are no analyst logon, except user "system".

I have already reset IIS. but the error still appear.

 

Is anyone know how to fix this problem?

How to make a Check Box attribute mandatory

Hello all,

I've read as much as I can find on this and we've already followed the instructions given in this article...

but the attribute, when displayed on a Self Service window, is still not mandatory.

 

We've changed the 'Is Mandatory' to True on both the object and window attribute settings and also set the default to False on the object attribute setting.

 

It's got me stumped - any ideas?

Please help.  I have installed a new instance of Landesk 9.5 for our company and it's almost unuseable.   Is there anything i can do to make it work....or is this version a LEMON?????

OSD Capture and Server 2012 issues

Has anyone had any luck capturing/deploying Windows Server 2012? I have attempted capturing an image but for some reason I am unable to get to the capturing stage. I am using a clean VM and everytime I attempt a capture it hoses my install of the OS requiring me to revert back to a previous snapshot.

 

I have had no problems capturing and deploying Windows 8 so I figured Server 2012 would be just as easy but that does not appear to be the case.

 

My only thought would be that it requires WinPE 4.0 but since I was able to capturing and deploy Windows 8 with WinPE 3.1 I can't see that being an issue. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Is there a way to set the column widths to a default size? My users always complain about seeing "Applicati...." in the column and they have to expand it to see the package name.

LANDesk 9.5, netboot and mac imageing

Has anyone got netboot working with LANDesk 9.5?  We have a macmini set up as a server with the latest OS. And it can serve other netoot images  made from the nbi creater by apple however the one supplied via LANDesk does not seem to create  a workable  nbi file. We have followed the whitepaper from LANDesk  and are hosting the image to be deployed from HTTP and can get to the file. We have created the task perperly but when you push it the machine that is the target reboots (mac.osd deployes) the profile on the Netboot server is created and then the device just reboots back to the OS..  The job is then flagged as failed.  We have tried both imacs and retina based macbookpros and desktops. What can I check to see if we can get this running.. I am about to give up and reccomend casper or deploystudio but we want to get LANDesk running if at all possable.

 

BTW the netboot file cannot be flagged for default for some reason like the ones  apple creates..  I think the Creation utility LANDesk  gives us to use LANDeskMacOSDUtility has some issues with the latest version of OSX? Anyone please?

Updating calls via inbound mail for multiple processes

We would like to give Analysts the ability to update request type calls via inbound email.   This feature is only required for updating requests/addign call notes since our requests have specific forms associated to them and it is preferable these are completed on creation.

 

However, it is only possible to associate a single process with one mailbox (we would like one mailbox with the ability to add call notes to multiple processes).  In the absense of this, Analysts would need to send updates to different mail boxes if they wanted to update specific requests.  Since there are a number of request processes and will continue to grow with the businsess, this will not be a feasible solution.

 

I am thinking along the lines of mailbox rules to forward to a single mailbox but if anyone has implemented a solution to manage this limitation, would be great to know how that was acheived.

How to create a CI in change and then link it to the change?

Does any one know how i would go about creating a CI as part of a change process and then link the CI to the change or even see what was created?

 

Does anyone else do this, want to do this? What do other people do instead of doing this?

Integrated Logon Failed

I have installed Version 7.5 to new servers and the IntegratedLogin is not working for the Self Service portal.

 

I have amended the tps.config file:

<add key="LogonPolicy" value="Integrated" /> and also tried <add key="LogonPolicy" value="IntegratedOnly" /> - neither work

 

I have also removed from the web config file:

<authentication mode="Windows"/>

 

Done IISreset and still not working.

 

Anyone any ideas, what I have missed?

Priviledges to create a change

I am trying to give end users priviledges to create changes.  When the end users clicks on the category in the new change window they get the following error:

Authorisation failure. User is not authorised to perform Read operations on the ChangeManagement.ChangeCategory class type

 

In the change management change category the update and read are greyed out and cannot be changed.
