Moving a global user setting to an application object

What is the best method to move a global user setting to an application object? In such a way the user's will not loose their settings.

Recently upgraded our environment to 2018.3 and although PersInfo v2.0.0.1 is a tad better than v2.0 in terms of functionality, it still isn't 100%.

 

Anybody out there got a version fully compatible with 2018.3?

How Do You Do A MAX On A DATETIME Fields

i have noticed in Xtraction there is a MAX calculation in the scoreboard section however this only seems to apply to numbers(integer) but not DATE (datetime) fields.  Is it possible to get a MAX date in xtraction without resorting to using an SQL view?

I would have expected a MAX function for dates (very useful) as there is a MAX for numerical fields.

SQL query not working

We recently upgraded to the newest edition of Goldmine premium, and when I went to go create a SQL Query - everything is grayed out, I cannot build, or edit or find or anything. I logged in as the master account and I cannot access it either. I am hoping it is just a setting hidden somewhere. Thank you for any help.

Client IP Detection - How is that information gathered?

How (or from where) does the environment manager agent retrieve the client IP address? Is there a certain listener it queries, regkey, logfiles, or some other mechanism? We're looking to use AppStream, but it doesn't use RDP, so it seems the client IP detection may not work as it would via an RDP or Citrix session connection.

HII in System Configuration Fails since upgradeing to 2016 SP3

The drivers that are installed through a .exe or .msi are placed in a second HII in System Configuration but they fail to install.

Running them manually on the computer after imaging works ok.

The only thing I see in the ldprovisioning log is Failed to download Applydrivers_x64.sig

Where does it download Applydrivers_X64.sig?


How do you import AD groups?

Hi guys,

 

as we learned ivanti SM offers pretty bad AD integration. There is no concept of groups, instead you have contact-groups, teams, roles and OUs.

That would not be the problem, as i easily can translate the group-memberships into contact-groups, teams, roles and OUs.

Unfortunately the LDAP-wizard doesn't want to work with AD-groups at all. It seems like LDAP-wizard wants to use AD-OUs to decide which user gets what team, roles and OUs in ivanti SM. We cannot use AD-OUs to decide which roles the users get, as we have a fixed AD-OU scheme which cannot be changed. In addition we have multiple users with more than one role.

 

I noticed the LDAP-wizard gives me the option to query the "memberof"-LDAP-attribute. So my first attempt to find a solution was the following:

 

1) Create a text field in the employee-businessobject

2) Use the LDAP wizard to write the "memberof"-LDAP-attribute into that new text field

3) Use business-rules to evaluate the field and set contact-groups, teams, roles and OUs of the user.

 

Even though this does not work recursive ("meberof" won't show nested groups) this really worked well until i realized, that the LDAP-wizard only writes the first group of the "memberof"-LDAP-attribute into my text field. Probably because LDAP returns an array and ivanti-sm expression language cannot handle arrays.

My question: Any idea how i get all the entries of the "memberof"-LDAP-attribute into my text field? The ivanti-expression-function "ConcatLdapAttributes" does not work.

 

 

I have ready some workarounds, but it seems to me, that IVANTI should be able to handle this issue without the need of workarounds. Anyway here are my workarounds for you other guys:

Workaround 1: just export a CSV from my AD and import the missing information into HEAT via data-import-connections.

 

Workaround 2: use multiple LDAP-wizard imports and query (and therfore import) just the users of specific groups. But as we have a lot of groups and roles this would take a lot of imports. In addition we would have to think about problems like how to handle multiple contact-groups, teams, roles and OUs (what overrwrites what).

 

Please share your ideas and suggestions.

Escalation clock pause

We have some questions wih escalation clock.

 

When a user say us "I go to holiday for 1 month", how can we pause the "autoclose" waiting customer clock ?

 

And the reverse, when an analyst schedule an update of a server for a specific date, how can we pause the clock for the incident ?

UI Actions - Creating an Email Record

As a bit of a backstory (and to try and avoid the XY problem), I've been asked to create some form emails our SDAs can send from Incidents. One of the key requirements is that the SDA needs to review the email before it is sent, so using a Send Email quick action is out. Templates for Journal#Email are unfortunately also out because you don't seem to be able to access templates for an extended business object from a view of the group business object. Our Incident layout uses the Activity History child panel, which shows the group BO Journal#, and we don't want to split the Notes and Emails into separate child panels. I know this has been solved by users in the past by using an intermediate object, but this feels like a 'messy' solution to me. My current solution is to use a UI Action.

Unfortunately, I've run into a few niggling issues with this.

 

1. NewObject command opens in a new tab

The preference for the new email would be to view it in the same tab as the Incident. However, the documented example for creating a new object will open it in a new tab. Meanwhile, the example for creating a child business object will open it within the current tab.

The example for Command ID = NewObject uses Scope = ObjectWorkspace, while the example for CommandID = NewChildObject uses Scope = CurrentTab:ObjectWorksspace:ObjectView.

I've tried using the Scope for NewChildObject in NewObject, however this doesn't work and the Email tab is opened but without a new record. Is it possible to have the NewObject command open within the current tab? Is further documentation available on possible values for Scope with each command?

 

2. NewChildObject doesn't allow for the passing of fields

The NewObject command allows for passing values from the current BO to the new BO via the 'Fields' attribute, which is an array of Name/Value pairs. I have tried including a Fields attribute in the NewChildObject command data, but the values were not passed to the newly created business object. Is there an equivalent field in the NewChildObject command?

 

3. Expression evaluation in CommandData

The examples of passing data from the current BO to a new BO via the NewObject command include references to the fields of the current BO, e.g. {'Name': 'ParentLink_RecID', 'Value': '$(RecId)'}. The $() syntax suggests that this is being evaluated as an expression, however using anything but a field name results in the expression being unprocessed, e.g. '$(CurrentUserDisplayName())' produces $(CurrentUserDisplayName()). Is it possible to use expressions within the CommandData of a UI Action?

In particular, our Symptom field is stored as Unicode and I'd want to replace some of the special characters with HTML entities for the body of the email, e.g. replacing line breaks with <br>.

How can I update Service Request parameters after it is submitted?

I see the relationship to the ServiceReqParam object.   But it's not available through workflow.  has anyone ever done this?   I have a use case where I submit something for an employee who is not yet (but soon will be) in the system.  After they are discovered in the Employee table I will update the parameters (Emp ID, Login, etc.) with their info and continue with the SR Workflow.

Phone number field and Request Offerings

So I've noticed that when a Request Offering is set with "Enable Request Editing" my phone number field for the customer gets cleared when the submitted offering is edited in the Parameters tab. Is there a way to prevent this field from being cleared if the IT user needs to modify the original request details? See screen shots below.

Multiple Selections in a Picklist

Using Ivanti 2017.3

 

I'm wondering if there is a way to create a request offering that has a drop-down picklist where the user can select multiple items in that picklist.  I don't see a direct way, so I'm playing around with having a drop-down followed by a checkbox.  Clicking the checkbox presents a read-only text field that would hold the drop-down selections.

The Selected Employees field (SelectedMany) would hold the multiple selections from the Select Employee drop-down.  I was hoping to create sort-of a loop like variable where SelectedMany = SelectedMany + SelectEmp.selected.Employee.DisplayName and as the use selects another employee, the names would in the Selected Employees field.  However, this is not working. 

 

Is there a way to do this?  I don't necessarily need an additional field if I could create a multi-select drop-down - but again, I don't see how to do this directly.  So maybe an indirect way?

Difference between all reboot settings in Agent configuration

I see 3 different reboot settings to configure. Just wanted some clarity on all 3.

 

1. Under standard ivanti agent there are "Agent install reboot settings" - This makes sense, just asking when can the client reboot after installing the agent

 

2. Under Standard Ivanti Agent there is also "Reboot settings" for distribution and patch reboot settings - Is this referring to when patches (windows updates) can be installed and when the client can reboot? (maintenance window?)

 

3. Under distribution and patch--->distribution and patch settings--->maintenance window. How is this different from reboot setting 2?

One to Many field in Xtraction

I would like to the top most record from Xtraction based on a join.  Table A drives the query while it relies on data from Table B.  For each record in Table A, there could be multiple records in Table B that coincide with Table A.  So in Table B, I created  a field using the following SQL statement:  (SELECT top 1 act_log.CALL_REQ_ID FROM act_log INNER JOIN act_type ON act_log.type = act_type.code INNER JOIN call_req ON act_log.call_req_id = call_req.persid WHERE (call_req.persid = 'ACTIVITY_LAST_LOG_COMMENT.CALL_REQ_ID') and act_log.type='LOG' order by time_stamp desc).  There are other fields that I have made available in TABLE B.  When I leverage one of the those, the value is blank even though I should data.  Can anyone help me with this?

Service Desk template attachments not downloading

Our access request uses a template with the user_access pdf form attached. Template from Request Management is 'New User Setup - Non Physician/NP/PA'. Template seems fine and saves attachment no problem. When an end_user create a new ticket and tries to download the pdf file nothing happens. File cannot be opened or saved. File is only 5KB. When trying to 'save as' the default name is object?key=b88065c0-b143-4390-a306-a7fb672fa404&class_name=RequestManagement_Request&attribute=_AttachDocument&attachment_guid=63f1192c-ef20-413b-83cf-fb5ea5524849 if that helps. No error is received.
